I’ve had it for months and it’s still working great

Seems to do it's job quite well, but I had issues using it with propane. It can be modified for propane, which I am doing. Just something to note when purchasing.

We have a 2-stage 96% Goodman furnace, GMVC961205DN, installed 9/2017 with a 16 SEER Condenser. Just 6 yrs of light use in Southern California, and the furnace wouldn't fire up.Symptoms:Nest T-Stat called for heat, inducer motor kicked-in, glow igniter became red, heard a faint click but it went away in 1/2 second, then the glow igniter went dark. The sequence repeated for 2nd time. Nothing. Then the 3rd time, still nothing. After 3 tries, the Error code "E0" appeared on the control board. Furnace locked-out.Findings:The multi-meter indicated there was 27V at the gas valve connector for about 1/2 sec. I traced back the wires from the valve to the control board and also reconfirmed there was 27V from the board. As my multi-meter probe was inserted in the control board plug, miraculously, the furnace had flame for a split second.I then cleaned the flame sensor. Somehow, the furnace fired up this time. I ordered new flame sensors thinking that was the faulty part. However after the new flame sensor was installed, the furnace stopped working after a day. This time, I could hear a longer click sound of 27V, but still no flame.I then bought a manometer to test for gas readings.TIP: Make sure to buy a manometer with a 1/4" tube and not the skinny tube. Only 1/4" tube would fit this valve. Gas pressure INLET: 9.2 water columns. OUTLET: 0.Conclusion:It's probably a bad valve. Found and ordered this exact P/N gas valve.Replacement:Just 4 screws were holding the manifold and the gas valve. I thought I could easily replace the valve in under an hour. Things went well and I removed the entire valve section with manifold from the furnace for ease of work. Then I came to realize the manifold just wouldn't unscrew from the valve. No matter what tools or methods I've tried, it wouldn't budge. I was stuck for more than an hour. Went online and started researching. Thanks to HVAC talk and DIY pages, an HVAC professional recommended 2 x 24" pipe wrenches for enough leverage. I was just using 1 x 12" pipe wrench. Maybe that's why. I went to Home Depot and bought 2 x 24" pipe wrenches. BAM! This 2 x 24" trick worked!! A big thanks to HVAC Talk again. The rest of the re-installation was straight forward.Tip: Highly suggest mixing the bottle of Pipe Thread Sealant thoroughly so that it has a consistent viscosity. I just stirred mine with the included cap brush and my bottle was 3-4 yrs old. bad idea. My sealant was a bit too thin and it started running and dripping after I re-assembled everything. To ensure there's no gas leak, I decided to take it apart and redo mine. Although it took more time, I can sleep better. Finally!! The furnace fired up instantaneously on this new valve. Worked like a charm. Can't believe this White Rodgers valve only lasted 6 yrs though. What a shame. I hope they have improved the design for 20 yrs of trouble-free operation.Gas Pressure: LOW 2.14 water columns. HIGH 3.52. No adjustment needed. Fantastic!Update 3/19/24: After more than a month, the furnace is working in perfect order. Super Solid. Highly recommended.Update: 2/6/25: This valve was rock solid. Furnace fired up every single time. I’m a happy camper!

May gas valve stuck and thus ordered new one. Rapping on it with a screwdriver it cleared to jam and has worked for 2 years so far without another problem. However, it is worth having a spare "just in case" it happens again as going without heat is not a good thing. The only reason I gave it a 4 rating as I haven't used it yet, although it appears to match the existing unit perfectly.
