These metal caps are being used to replace the plastic tops (see attached photos) of the fence posts of a largr above ground pool. The original type plastic caps, after time, become brittle and crack after continual UV exposure. Usually I would just buy replacement plastic, but because they were out of stock, I tried the steel version. The steel version is very well constructed and can be considered as a long term replacement item, but because the steel is much more rigid, and the plastic has some flexibility, it is important that you measure the diameters of the post type that you are putting it on because the steel caps are dead on at 1-1/2” (square) specifications. It is a snug fit onto the post, which is good because you do not want them falling off. They come unpainted, so you would need to apply paint or just leave them as is.

I purchased 1.5 inch posts and railing on Amazon. I realize there are different wall thickness on steel tubing so perhaps they will fit on thin wall tubing but did not fit mine. Bad news is I painted them so now they can't be returned.

I'm just saying if you are doing a job for somebody, use metal and not the plastic pop-ins. Those don't hold up here in Nevada. These are a very good choice and good price. I will be buying again.

Impossible to find in any hardware store or fencing supply house, this simple end cap fits perfectly and matches factory original. Lost a couple of these somewhere when gate slammed shut, they disappeared into the mulch. Left a hole on top that was collecting water and rusting the inside of the fence. These were perfect for my needs and now the fence looks new again.

The steel stairway posts has caps just like these -- one got knocked off during recent construction, and I could not find it. Fortunately, I found these. Perfect press fit. I also put some glue under it to keep it in place, and then spray painted it glossy black to match the rest of the stairway. Very nice, looks original.

Used to top off our deck posts. We didn’t like the big posts that Menards was selling so opted to make our own out of square pipe. Very easy and much cheaper! Amazon pulled through again with these square post caps that fit perfectly and looked great after spray painting black to match! Showed up super fast in the mail too!
