I don't work on MacPherson struts all that often but when I do I am going to be glad to have this little tool handy. In the past I have always make due to a screw driver or pry bar to spread the clamp section on the wheel hub assembly to get the strut removed. It did work, but was always a struggle and never went all that smooth. It always involved trying a couple of different tool combinations and repositioning a couple of times to get the strut completely out. But not any more, this tool makes the process easy and painless. Just insert the tabs of the tool into the split in the holder once the bolts are removed and tighten it up. It spreads the holder and makes it so much easier to slide out the strut since I don't have to be trying to spread it open while also working the strut out. Definitely the right tool for the job.
