For getting to know finger positions, these are handy for students to get the basics down. The stickers mostly stay put and they are easy to see except for the black ones. They are pretty gaudy looking so you won't want them installed for concerts. None of the damaged fretboards, but some of them did leave some residue behind when removed.I would have gave them 3 stars but based on the quantity of rolls, I bumped it up to a 4.

Comes super handy and makes it easy to customize how you need it unlike all the standard fret board markings that are utterly useless for anything other then scales. They stick well when put on and last for months of playing before needing replacement. Highly recommend as it made learning the violin much easier.

I am not a violin user myself, and this was picked up for a violin user who is out of practice.. sadly her feedback on how well this works for her is also out of practice.. from what I can tell of the product, this is pretty top notch however. The adhesion is good, the colour variance is nice, it allows you to mark multiple locations on the neck for training purposes and doesn't 'scuff' off easily. I haven't tried putting some on and removing it for any adhesive residue, so I don't know if there is any. Another good use for this, from personal 'hand feel' of the product would be 'personalization' on the body of an electric violin (for example) to better identify yours from a colleague who might have the same model (think pinstriping on a car). This has the same feel, to me, as a lot of vinyl pinstriping tapes do

My thoughts on "10 rolls Violin Fingering Tape:"My use of the fingering tape was to get it to mark notes on a ukulele fretboard.I found three out of seven colors too dark to be used on a dark fretboard. The green and blue tapes are much darker than presented in the photo on the website. On a dark fretboard, they look pretty much like black. And if your fretboard is dark, you probably do not want to use blue, green, and black tape, as they look pretty much the same and, on top of that, are difficult to see on dark fretboards. So your choice is limited to white, light yellow, yellow, or red tape. There is not much difference between light yellow and yellow, so you probably stay with yellow as a brighter color. Realistically, it leaves you with only three color choices for dark fretboards: white, yellow, and red. They stick nicely, although in my particular application it was often challenging.Peeling off the tape did not leave any trace on one instrument; however, it left a trace on the second instrument. On a side note, there is a lot of tape, and I bet it might be used for the whole orchestra or a few.And I am really puzzled why the manufacturer offers two rolls of black tape. I wish the colors were brighter and there were more colors.SUMMARYIn summary, I would not buy it for the application on the dark fretboard; green and blue are too dark, and black simply does not work on a dark fretboard. In fact, I would not buy the tapes because of the limited number of colors for practical use. Thanks!

I have mixed feelings on these tapes. There is a very generous amount, if using strictly as meant, aka for learning instrument positions, the rolls would last for a very long time, there’s quite a lot, and there’s a lot of rolls.I find they seem to stay in place well enough while playing. Pretty much any tape will shift over time, these stay put as well as I’d expect, though you could replace them every few weeks, depending on how much you’re practicing. At some point, they likely won’t be needed at all.I love how thin the tapes are. It really helps to narrow down an exact position, and that’s their strong point. Some of the colours aren’t too useful, as they can’t be seen. If you pay attention to and focus on sensitivity, you can ‘feel’ where they are, but I doubt a child would be able to do it.That being said, don’t really need to have different colours. You could alternate yellow and white on a black fingerboard, or do all yellow for high visibility, so despite the drawback of the poor colour hindrance, it’s not really that big of a deal.I’ll note that the rolls seemed ‘squished’ when I got them, you can see they are kinda bent and there are ‘gaps’, I’m not sure if this will have an effect on the useability long term. They don’t’ come with a storage case, so to make sure the sides don’t get gunked up with dust, I’ll be playing them in a plastic baggie. One thing to note is that they are hard to find the ‘start’ to peel. It took me a bit of looking closely and feeling for the ‘catch’ of the open end. I’d have something handy to place down once you cut a piece of to make it easier the next time, which is usually the case for many types of tape.Overall, I do recommend this tape, it will help beginners learn finger placement on any non fretted instrument.

I have ordered this for the first time and have not seen yet how durable it is or if it moves with time on the fingerboard. I have previously used car pin striping and liked the fact that with this product I didn't have to pull off a paper backing (which is a little trickier than it sounds on the pin stripes.) I am a little perplexed why the color black is included, none the less 2 rolls. Isn't the idea that students can see the tapes on the fingerboard? I would have ditched the black and even darker blue and green colors for more white.
