The whole set is made of reinforced thermoplastic shell, portable, corrosion-resistant, with durable, all-weather performance, serving to enhance clean water quality.
There are three different ways to identify when the filter needs backwashing.
1·The most accurate indicator on pool systems with a flow meter is to backwash when the flow decreases 30%from the
original (clean filter) flow. For example, if the original flow was 60 GPM, the filter should be backwashed when the flow is reduced by about 20 GPM (or 30%) to 40 GPM
2.A more subjective and less accurate indicator is to observe the amount of water flowing from the flow directionals located in the wall of the pool.The filter should be backwashed once it is detected that the flow has been reduced.
3. The most commonly used but less accurate indicator is to backwash when the filter gauge reading increases 10 PSI over the initial(clean filter) reading.
It is important not to backwash the filter solely on a timed basis such as every three days.
It is also important to note that backwashing too frequently actually causes poor filtration.Factors like weather conditions, heavy rains, dust or pollen,and water temperatures all affect the frequency of backwash. As you use your pool, you will become aware of these influences.
To prevent damage to the pump and filter and for proper operation of the system, clean pump strainer .

It’s a good pump, but the instructions it comes with are horrible. Not helpful at all with set up. Also have had a couple issues with it leaking. Overall it’s a decent pump for the price. Just watch YouTube videos to set it up.

I grew up taking care of a 21’ pool. I bought this filter for a 8’x4’ x2’ deep kids pool. I honestly thought it was oversized for the pool. Ya let it run all night and it exactly the same in the morning. Back wash it and some dirty water comes out. Set it back on filter. Let it run and still looks like nothing was done. It’s just a huge waste of money and electricity !

I had high hopes for this sand pump after reading the reviews, but my pool is swimming in bugs all the time and I have spent more time cleaning it than enjoying it. The filter output is minimal, and I see it pumping debris and bugs back into the pool rather than containing it in the sand filter. I have backwashed and rinsed several times and it doesn't seem to do much good. Overall, disappointed!

Update: We received a replacement pump and so far it's been just fine. I've updated my review from below. The replacement process and talking to their customer service wasn't that great but otherwise the issue seems resolved.The first day the pump worked great. It was a little complicated to set up and super hard to find filter sand locally - but it did come with an ok-ish manual. The second day we noticed it was leaking water from the actual pump housing ( not the pipes or connections) and we tried looking at it but could not find any seals or parts that were loose or damaged. By the third day the pump would not pump at all it was completely not working. It makes a dull hum when we plug it in, but does not pump. Customer service has been extremely frustrating so far. Will update the review if we ever manage to get a replacement or exchange.
