This tool works great!!! You do have to have it warm enough for the Hydraulics to work...I do recommend!!!

I bought this to get some good crimps on some 2/0 awg cables. I only had a dozen crimps to make and it worked well though of course cannot speed on the topic of long term durability. I do wish the handles were a bit longer so there was a bit more leverage when crimping but that isn't much of a problem since this is not an everyday tool for me.I did notice some reviewers said the dies on their crimper were loose. Mine has the opposite issue where I have to tap on them and use a pair of pliers to remove them when I want to switch them out.

For the price, it's a decent product. You can tell it's a product made in China but it does work.Pros:*Comes with extra seals to rebuild cylinder if it ends up leaking.*Lots of dies, 10 awg to 600 MCM.*Lots of pressure and release valve works great.Cons:*With one set of dies in the tool, there are two extra sets with no holder in the blow-molded case. The OEM should do better, that's just dumb.*Dies are rough and need some clean up. Wish they were anodized black instead of bright plated.*Dies fit loosely in the tool and may not line up perfectly with each other.*Labels on the outside of the case are cheesy and won't last. For those of you complaining about the dies creating "wings" when you crimp, the quick fix to that is to take a hand file and chamfer the edges of both dies where they come together and form the "wing". This will allow the dies to form a ridge instead of smashing the material out so flat it flakes of with your fingers. It took less than a minute to fix both dies and the resulting crimp was much better. See the image showing the difference in the modified and OEM die. This should help your results when using a quality lug such as the thick barreled one shown in the images. Thinner barreled, china made lugs, such as the ones that came with the 50A batter disconnects I just bought will still form "wings" no matter what....but again....cheap, China made, lugs and crimpers. If you expect better, you have to buy better products. You will never get a mil-spec crimp from anything this cheap.

I needed something strong to crimp 4/0 wire crimps. I had bought a cheaper 1 that was a completely different style a year or so ago, but it didn't last and only works decently on smaller stuff. Now that I've used this many times, I definitely won't be using any other crimper again. As I think some others have said, you don't use the size they recommend. You either have to use 1 or 2 sizes smaller to get a proper crimp. It's been a couple months so I forget if it's 1 or 2, but just make sure to not over crimp it. When it's over crimped, you'll have a bunch of the metal that protrudes out in between the metal crimps themselves, like little sharp wings. It's ok to have a very tiny tiny bit protrude, but maybe a 1/16 at most. More than that and you're over crimping and the metal will have lost its long term integrity.

My old methods of lug crimping is no longer applicable (see pic); the old vise method served its purpose but it was time to upgrade. Works great but after you make the first crimp, drop down a size. I think they did this so the lugs wouldnt crack as opposed to blaming loose lugs on user error idk. Either way it works mint for the money.

I think this I a great value for the money. Not the easiest thing to use if you are a standard human model with 2 hands. I found myself awkwardly pinning it against my gut to keep the terminators and wiring in the best orientation. I’m using welding wire and tinned copper ring connections to make battery banks. Use a workbench or table to rest the crimper and the cable on. Or just jam it into your stomach while bending awkwardly. Either way, add a little bit of self-adhesive, heat shrink tubing and you’ll get pretty, solid and professional crimps.

I've crimped 4 AWG, 8 AWG, and 10 AWG terminals, and Anderson plug connectors using this crimping tool. It's delivered on every occasion and I've been able to get excellent connections without needing to re-crimp or waste terminals. The crimping tool comes in a box and the instructions are handy and needed to decipher which size die is needed for different wire sizes. The tool could be slightly better balanced to make one person operations easier. I don't find it difficult to use it when I'm working with the cables in the shop but single person operations do become challenging when you've run cables in an automobile for example and need to crimp the terminal ends at odd angles or in confined spaces. In such instances, having a second person hold the wire and terminal, while not essential, is desirable. I can't speak of the longevity of the tool since I've only had it for a short amount of time, but it has so far has not let me down.
