When I bought my hydroponics machine, I didn't realize I would need so many different kinds of re-fills. In fact, I first ordered just additional sponges and grow medium. Then, when it came time to start new seeds, I realized I needed these extra components. So if you are on the fence about whether you need all these things, yes, you really do!

Update: 2/6/2023These sponges have mold spores in them. They don't work for starting seeds that are slow to germinate - they get overwhelmed by the mold before they can form true leaves. Because if the mold, they're likely to attract fungus gnats.I'll try soaking them in a weak bleach solution before starting the next batch of seeds. I'll update this with results.-------These fit perfectly into square holed hydroponic systems. Though they're not designed to work with Aerogardens, they will fit into round plug chambers also, especially if you're willing to shave them down a bit with a utility knife.Being made of coir, they should be entirely biodegradable. Seeds start easily in them and seem to be growing well with no complaints.I plan on using these in my hydroponic gardens to start garden seeds for planting outdoors next year. I'll update this once I've gotten a few plants into the ground to confirm their biodegradability, but so far, they're as described, an excellent value and I have no complaints.
