I recently ordered the guitar string winder for my gig toolbox. Having some tools with you when you travel to gigs is always a good idea; this string winder is a great addition. Previously I had a string winder and a pair of wire cutters in my box, this tool combines them and more into one tool. The tool can help you wind new strings fast and you can then easily trim them with the same tool. If you play acoustic guitar, it also has a built-in bridge pin puller, making it perfect for acoustic gigs. This is a well-priced and well-constructed tool that every guitarist should have in their traveling toolkit.

If you play guitar, then you have to change strings and it is never a fun task. Not that his will bring everlasting joy, but it will make a tedious chore easier. I have another string winder, but I like that this one has the wire cutter built in so you don't need to carry around a separate tool. It's easy to just throw this in your gig bag with a spare set of strings and you are all set. Every guitarist should have one around to speed up this process.

Fast tool for replacement of strings! Wire cutters work very well. Makes quick work for an annoying job. Love it. Get this one while it lasts.

I'm festival sound guy. I also play the drums, so why do I need this thing? I'll tell you why... because I'm a good guy. I have it to toss in my work box so when I have a guitar player on my stage that breaks a string, I can hand it to him quicker than he will EVER find his own which is buried in some pocket of "one of these here cases". Watching a musician melt down as they shuffle and dig through decades of junk in the depths of a zippered pocket is almost more than I can endure.And when they are done with their fishing expedition, and their scraps of gum, candy bar wrappers, broken guitar picks and bottle caps are now scattered all over my once-clean stage they STILL have not found their string winder/cutter... you guessed it; I want to lose my mind.SO that's why a drummer/sound guy owns this tool. I don't need it... but I NEED it, ya follow?OH, the review... it does what it's supposed to do. It works great. No complaint... 5 stars. I'll probably review it again when some guitar player steals this one after I'm nice enough to save his show. That's the thanks I get. And you wonder why sound guys get cranky.

This tool is great to have around for string changes. It takes the strain off your wrists and makes the process much faster. The construction doesn't feel particularly impressive because the string winder portion is loose, so I don't know how long it will end up lasting. The string cutter will cut strings but you can't get as flush to the tuner as you would with a pair of side cutters. At the end of the day, if you're using it occasionally, this will get the job done, but if you're doing frequent string changes as a gigging musician then I think you're better off finding something that is better quality. The winder also does not have slits in the side so it will not fit bass tuners.

This string winder is good to keep in an acoustic guitar case. It has the forked tip to pry the pegs out of the bridge, the string winder itself, and the cutter. The cutter part doesn't have any sharp edges so I was concerned it would perform well, but it cut the strings with no problem at all. However it does not feel like it is made of quality materials.
