Tool end screws off to reveal a tip aerator/picker to pick the tip. Slightly break up the surface of the tip when it is new or it has been compressed after being used for a while so it will hold more chalk.
Only need simply roughen up the surface of the tip so chalk will adhere to the tip. For better ball control.
Remove excess cue tipand residual glue.
Place the polished billiard club leather head on the curvature detection and comparison hole to calibrate the curvature of the leather head. sizes available(R8.5-9.0-9.5-10.5-11.5-12.5).

I know basically how to use the device. Instructions don't show you how to burnish the sides of the tip. Basically everything about the instructions are weak.The tool works, be careful not to cut your ferrule on the tip grinder its sharp. That little corner of the blade can nick the ferrule if you don't watch what you are doing.My plastic container came with the top cut off telling me it was probably a return before I got it.Overall, it was worth the buy.
