Z turn mower would not start. Battery good. Ordered this starter solenoid- shipped quickly and fit exactly and worked perfectly. Much less expensive than manufacturers part but looked exactly the same. Never missed cutting my grass.

My toro is about 12 years old, and the solenoid finally stopped working. So I wanted to give this GEARLINTON 117-1197 Starter Solenoid w/2 Hole Bracket a try because it looked exactly like what I currently had as I did need the solenoid that had two small and two large connections. The installation went perfect, as the holes for mounting it were a perfect match, but that's where the similarities ended. The large high amp terminals on the top are much smaller than the OEM, so I had to use flat washers to hold the battery cables in place better. Once everything was plugged up, I gave it a start and it worked great. However, on about the 6th start, the new solenoid stuck ON and the starter stayed engaged after it cranked up....this is a nightmare if you have no quick way to undo a battery cable. All I had close to me was a hammer, so I "smacked" the top of the solenoid and it snapped back into place and the starter finally shut off before burning up. All subsequent starts is has worked correctly, but I have a hammer ready just in case it happens again.

This solenoid solved the starting problem on my 2005 Toro Zmaster. I looked up the oem part number, and the part number for the solenoid was a match. This was less than half the price Toro wants.
