Over time, it is normal for the trail shield to become worn or damaged, and in need of a replacement. It is black in color and located between your rear wheels.
Product size
The trailing shield has been in use since 2012 and is still being installed on new machines.
The Trailing Shelid is 21 ¼” Wide on wide part and on top 20”
Function
It is designed to lessen the number of stones and other rubble from being flung backwards towards the operator. The shield is also an important safety feature that helps to lessen the likelihood of your foot accidentally contacting the blade.

Das Absperrschild (aus weichem minderwertigem Kunststoff) wird mit 2 Dübeln und 2 Schrauben geliefert. Die Dübel müssen in die Schildlöcher eingesetzt werden. Die Dübel sind minderwertig und minimal zu klein für die Löcher. Beim Einschrauben der Schrauben in die Dübel drehen diese sich in den Löchern immer weg, zudem sind die Dübel so hart und eng das die Schrauben kaum packen. Als es dann mit viel Mühe geschafft wurde hat das ganze nicht lange gehalten. Nach nur etwa 5 Betriebsstunden ist die eine Lochvorkehrung gerissen da das Schild aus minderwertigem Kunststoff besteht und der Dübel hatte keinen Halt mehr. Das Schild wurde in den Rasenmäher gezogen und von den Messern fast völlig zerlegt. Dies hörte sich echt übel an. Bin echt sauer, dass hier so ein Schrott verkauft wird. Das Originalteil hatte zuvor sogar 9 Jahre gehalten !!!

Fits well, functions well. The only issue with the item is the screws they provide are a touch too small and don't thread into the item. Had to jam the provided anchor in to make the screw hold. Hasn't fallen out yet though. Perfect for the price.

There was too much flex and play in this that the first time I pulled the mower backwards it was chopped up by the blades. This must be a cheap knockoff and not oem as it was supplied with screws that didn't fit the hole so they supplied drywall anchors to make up for it. The rear wheels needed to be taken off since you needed to use a screw driver because the drywall anchor was too big and the screw could not be secured by hand like the original oem part that did not need a drywall anchor.

This is the second of this part that I’ve ordered, this one being a year after the first. The part fits like oem so that’s good. However this latest item actually had drywall anchor screw’s inserted in the ends, where the older design had threaded inserts molded into the part. I almost sent it back because the drywall anchors fit very loosely and it was tedious to try to get the part installed properly. If I hadn’t needed to use it quickly, I would have returned it. But it’s still attached after six uses (about 6hrs use), so hopefully it stays that way. Toro if you’re listening you need to un-cost-engineer this thing back to the original design and omit the janky drywall screws. I wouldn’t recommend this part, but the old design was fine. Just check the screws to save yourself grief.

Does what it needs to do. Replaced the cheap piece of plastic with another cheap piece of plastic. Wouldn’t be surprised if it gets torn up again but I think that’s the general consensus about this piece.
