I've tried making my own headbands for books and I have successfully made some modestly decent ones but it is a skill I'm still working on and it is time-consuming. I decided to get this pack for projects that I just don't have time to do a headband by hand or in which I want to have a more polished look than my current skill set allows. I love the quantity, quality, and variety of this set. It has a rainbow election of colors which can coordinate well with a variety of different colored book projects. The headbands are all nicely made and ready to use and depending on the size of your book spine could make hundreds of books. I also appreciate that they come in a container for storage

I’m new to book binding but these look great and I’m excited to use them. It comes with a large variety of colors all organized in a small case to keep them in which is really nice.

This set comes with a generous amount of different color endbands! There's a large roll of each color, so even for someone who does a lot of bookbinding (I don't), these should last for a long time. The colors/types are all so cute!

We have wanted to try our hand at bookbinding some journals. These will work great in securing the ends of the pages and making it look professional.

This set of bookbinding endbands comes in a clear plastic storage case with a colorful label on the lid. Each color of bands come neatly folded and bundled together. The size of the case is a little cramped for the amount of contents, and there are no dividers, but it's functional. The latch is made of a separate piece of plastic, which should help it last longer, though it's certainly not a heavy-duty case. There are a nice variety of colors, with enough length to complete multiple projects in each color. I wish I'd had these sooner for a few previous book repair projects, to give a more finished-looking edge.

There are a lot of different color options in this collection of headbands, some of which are definitely on the non-traditional side. I like the variety and there is enough length to bind a few books in each color. I am disappointed in myself that I didn't notice the polyester content before ordering, as I cannot use these on archival bindings, which is what I do. Because of the poly content, the bands themselves are really stiff and difficult to work with, especially if you are binding a small or miniature volume. Still, for hobbyists they are fine, and I'm sure there are other uses for these. The best part of this collection is that they come in a very nice plastic box with a secure latch. Since these are little precut lengths, the box is absolutely necessary to keep them together and tidy. They are currently priced at 8.99 which is fair, but I wouldn't pay more due to the polyester content.

One criticism: I can't think of a good reason why the company would give you two lengths of each color instead of giving you one of each color at double the length. It would be the same amount of material, and there'd be less opportunity for waste if you had each one at double the length. Maybe they wanted the number "50" to appear in the description to make it seem like you're getting a lot? Don't get me wrong, there is a quite a bit of material here, especially if you're a hobbyist and the journals you make are not huge.As a bookbinder, sewing one's own endbands is a satisfying process. It's not difficult, and it makes the end product look that much nicer. Though, for a production bookbinder, that process can be time-consuming (and the recipient might not even be able to tell that it was hand-sewn--though, sometimes the creator knowing matters just as much). It really depends on whether it matters if the book you're making needs to be wholly your creation, or if you're not married to the idea. Some of us make our own paper, make our own book cloth, use various techniques to even construct our own book boards! This is very time-consuming, so you need to decide what truly matters to you and your project. I absolutely see the benefits of using ready-made endbands, book cloth, paper, book boards, etc. and use these things myself, depending on the project. It's convenient to have these ready-made endbands. They can be used for bookbinding demonstrations. If you produce a lot of journals, either for personal use, for gifts, or for sale, they're a quick way to jazz up the book you've made. You just need to select a thread of a color and gauge that can hide among the threads used in the endband so that when you sew it onto the ends of the textblock, it looks like the whole thing was sewn directly onto it. The white part can also be adhered using an acid-free PVA.
