Theae poles are great concept. Easy to put together and could be used in many applications. The biggest reason for lower star rating are the poles are not ridged enough on their own. They tend to lean.

i liked the height adjustment on theres poles. i would like so see a thicker base plate abd the first few extensions. i had to shim the base plate to get the posts vertical.

Ok. I was very reluctant to buy w only 1 review and it was much cheaper than similar products on amazon. The screw together poles seemed like they would be wonkey even though the idea is pretty good. You can add or subtract sections of pole depending on how low or high you need to hang lights. I bought this for a center support (2 strings cross this pole so equal tension all 4 ways) and I have no doubt it will support used in this manner. I was surprised once they arrived how well they went together and they seemed robust enough. I would normally give 4 stars because the directions were adequate but clearly not written or perhaps edited by someone w english as first language. But, they are certainly adequate and really not needed. But I gave 5 because this seemed petty and there was only 1 other review so it would be big negative hit. I liked the first and decided to order 2 more and use them as enders (not equal tension). That will be a better test. I would like to say I will update review but I probably wont unless it is disaster. I would recommend using fasteners other than what they give you to fasten to deck or cement. They are actually pretty serious fasteners and likely not needed. You can use, but I think a good construction screw (not deck or drywall)would work just fine for most applications involving wood. One last thing...I seriously doubt they are water proof. There are no gaskets. Again, I personally don't think this is any issue. Definitely worth $30.Updated aug 5: while this worked fine when used as center pole for lights where light string tension was equal on each side, it bent when used as where tension pulled in just one direction w my lights which are heavy duty

I was looking for poles for a very specific use, mounting on top of my deck handrails. I took a chance ordering these with no reviews, but they worked perfectly. The bases are about 4” in diameter, and the threading is super wide so each pipe overlaps over 1” so the connections are solid and nearly impossible to strip the threads. I used less than half of the possible pipe length so my poles are only 4.5-6’. I can imagine these become a bit less sturdy at the full height included in the package.The mounting hardware included also worked just fine, but prepare to use an 11mm socket wrench with an extension to drive the lag bolts into hard-wood since the base gives little room for drill access due to it’s small footprint. One negative is that there is no cap on the top, so rain can get into the pole and travel to the base (similar issue where the pole meets the base - theres about a 1/8” gap), so I’ll drill in some weep holes, but considering that they fit my needs perfectly I’ll still give this 5 stars.
