The locks are strong enough not to be able to be removed by hand without breaking them, to they are great if you do not need the lock to be super secure. The plastic is high quality, and they keys will survive wear and tear of use. Highly recommended. How to I use the locks? We have several POE devices that have a single network (RJ-45) port that needs to be connected, and several that are open (not to be used.) When my users disconnect the network cable to restart the device, they tend to reconnect to another port... which makes the device not to power up (duh!) and then I have to rush on to the site. Now I cover and lock all the unused ports, so my users can't miss... no more calls! I wish I had order these several years back, during the pandemic! ;)

These worked really well for protecting unused switch ports on my Netgear M4300 series switches. They're simple, sit flush, and don't draw too much attention. Perfect!HOWEVER...I have also managed to get one stuck in a different piece of network gear (APC to be specific), ultimately causing serious damage to the port during my removal attempt. Shielded NIC's generally have a grounded metal shield (or casing) that surrounds the port. This metal shield usually has two small grounding tabs or prongs that are bent inward, into the port itself. If these metal tabs are too short, the port lock can actually push past these tabs and become permanently stuck inside the port. Once this happens, it's game over. Getting the lock out is nearly impossible without causing significant damage to the port and/or the shield.Use these with caution.
