I really like this AMZTKDIY 1.3 Gallon Camping Shower, but it took some fiddling and troubleshooting to get it to pressurize. Instructions and a troubleshooting guide would have been immensely helpful. The unit comes fully assembled along with a bag of "extra" fittings, but upon my first try I realized that it wasn't holding pressure so I needed to crack open the "extras" to get it to seal up. My culprit was the top black collar where it meets up with the white tank, there wasn't a gasket in there as assembled from the factory. So using the one in the pack, I was able to get it to seal up and hold pressure. So a bit fiddly at first, but I would imagine a lot of folks who would be using this to camp with are familiar with a fair bit of fiddling with gear like we are. I'd be giving this three stars as adequate if it weren't for how well this thing performs! So on to that: I can get really good pressure for a thorough shower including rinsing long hair! Way, way better than a gravity camp shower bag, but also much better than the rechargeable battery shower that we have. A+ for the pressure and usability! Also, I like just the manual trigger-squeeze for on and off. No fumbling with little buttons with soapy fingers to take a "Navy shower"! The sprayer can be set mechanically to stay on if you do want to have it spray constantly, as well. I'm honestly shocked at the heat retention. The neoprene sleeve is like a giant can koozie and somehow works super well. My unscientific heat retention test: I used an immersion heater to warm up the full tank (with the black top portion completely removed to fit my heater) and then pumped it up and tested the sprayer settings over the course of probably 5 minutes. Set it aside to do some other tasks and tried it again in about a half hour - still warm! I then went out running some errands, came home then tried the water temp again (a good hour later) and it was still above room temperature! Not as warm as initially, of course, but impressive nonetheless. I'm also impressed with the function on the spray intake tube, it goes all the way to the bottom and uses up all but a tiny puddle of the water. If I'm hauling and heating water when I'm camping, I want to be able to use it all, so this is great! I had a hard time rating this since the it required the fiddling out of the box, but the functionality is great! 4 stars as an average between 3 and 5 :)

I was excited when I ordered this $50 Amztkdiy portable camp shower (Amazon ASIN B0DTG3SC74, UPC 700398427273), hoping to fill it with 5 liters (about 1.3 US gallons) of hot water and take a shower outside without running water. Unfortunately, after an hour of frustrating attempts to get it working, I shelved it for another day. Therefore, this review focuses on the setup process rather than its actual use, which should be as simple as holding the spray nozzle and pressing the trigger. However, I couldn't get past the initial setup because the shower head kept popping off the nozzle. I'm still unsure why, but please refer to my photos for the results. Water went everywhere except on me.Perhaps I made a mistake? But without instructions, how would I know? The unit came with no instructions, except for the basic information printed on the side of the bottle, which lacks detailed setup guidance. There were no paper instructions, and even the box was plain white with only an identification sticker. You're left to figure out the setup on your own.How difficult could it be, right? Fill it with hot water, screw on the handle, and pump a few times to pressurize it like a garden sprayer, right? Well, that's where the trouble began.Upon opening the box, I was puzzled by a bag of "spare parts." Since there were no instructions, I left the bag in the box. I filled the container with a gallon of hot water, attached the handle, and took it outside. After pumping, it leaked. I tightened the handle, and it still leaked. I tightened the black base under the handle and pumped again—still leaking. I tried the pressure release valve and reattached the spray nozzle, but the leaks persisted.I could hear the leak but couldn't pinpoint its source. Frustrated, I filled the bathtub with water and submerged the unit while pumping. That's when I saw the leak: it was at the connection between the black base and the white container. Upon disassembly, I realized the "spare parts" were not spares but essential components, specifically the large, medium, and small O-rings.Instructions would have been incredibly helpful. Most people will likely endure this trial-and-error process because you must disassemble pre-assembled parts to install the O-rings correctly. It's a guessing game.Once the O-rings were in place, the leaks stopped. Now, time for a shower, right? Wrong. Every few pumps, the shower head popped off. Why? Garden sprayers don't do that. Their tips are usually screwed on, but this one is a press-fit. I still don't know why the shower head keeps detaching. Perhaps the tiny O-rings belong there? There's already one, so I doubt it, but who knows? Again, no assembly instructions.I'm frustrated by the lack of a simple instruction sheet to avoid the setup struggles I experienced.Moving on, the shower head offers eight spray modes, easily selected with a dial. The Amazon listing correctly states that the shower is lightweight; when filled with 1.3 gallons of water, it weighed approximately 14.6 pounds with all attachments (let's round it to 15 pounds). The listing also claims it's easy to fill, which is true; I used the kitchen sink hose. The hose length is listed as 13 feet, but due to its coiled design, it's shorter in practical use, though still adequate for showering. The "2-hour heat retention" claim refers to the included thin wetsuit-like insulating sleeve, a nice addition. The silicone grease on the moving parts is a plus, but it will wear off, and no extra tube is provided, so you'll need to purchase some.Overall, I wanted to like this portable shower, but the frustrating setup due to the lack of instructions has dampened my enthusiasm. It's a shame because it could have been very useful for outdoor showers. Please see the included detailed photos. I hope this review helps you make an informed decision.

Can't even hold pressure. There seems to have been something wrong with my pump as it would not hold pressure when I first tested it. With an empty tank, I could hear air seeping out from one of the connections so I checked each one to see where it was coming from. I found that it was the main lid that had this issue. I tried to replace the gaskets but that didn't help. I even trimmed some of the plastic from the opening to create a better seal and that helped at first but when I filled it with water, 3 pumps would have the cap popping off the threads. I resealed it, and used it with only two pumps of pressure to test if I was actually over the psi limit. It works but the water pressure was so poor in the 'shower' setting that i might as well just pour water from the bottle itself. I would pump as I was spraying and even then, the lid popped off the thread. I'm very certain that my unit could not hold pressure and that made this useless.

So, I am very much a camping enthusiast. I keep trying to go at least once every year - been successful at that lately as well - but it is frankly the wrong season/weather to be doing camping right now. But, doesn't mean I don't want to prepare.I saw this and figured at the very least I could give it a test trial before taking it out proper for a trip later this year. It was easy to fill, and honestly what I would expect to pump to get the proper pressure. Once ready, the water pressure was surprisingly decent, and the attached spray valve worked lovely. I know not everyone does the more rustic (or even survival) camping, but I have, and this would definitely feel great after a full day and wanting to get the day's muck off of yourself. Nice little item, pleasantly compact, and easy to use.
