Product Description

What is an Automotive Fuse?

An automotive fuse is an electrical component that is designed to protect other components, devices, and wiring from any damage that might occur due to excess current flow. Most automotive fuses are designed for 12v electrical systems, so they are primarily identified by an amperage rating. This rating refers to the maximum amount of amperage that the fuse can handle before it fails. Automotive fuses are typically contained within fuse boxes, but some applications also use inline fuses.

A safety device consisting of a strip of wire that melts & breaks an electric circuit if the current exceeds a safe level - Automotive fuses are a class of fuses used to protect the wiring & electrical equipment for vehicles.

The Blade Fuses Pack provides everything you need to protect your vehicle & electrical devices from a short circuit or overload.

Tips for Regular blade-type fuses:

If the replacement fuse blows shortly after installation, your car's electrical system may have a more serious issue. Consult an mechanic.Fuses age like any other car part. Over time, they will fail. It doesn’t mean your car has a major problem. If you need to drive the car, such as to pick up a new fuse, replace the broken fuse with a fuse from a nonessential system, such as the radio. Make sure both fuses have identical ampere ratings.Keep a few fuses stored in your car so you can make a quick repair when necessary.

The Features of Regular Fuses

Feature: Fuses are used to ensure the protection of circuits. Whenever it encounters over or mismatched load connection, thin low resistance metallic wire inside melts (blows, opens) because the heavy current flowing through it. Thus, it disconnects power supply from connected system and protects electrical component.

How to replace auto fusesAPR / ATC / ATO / ATS Standard blade fuses

APR / ATC / ATO / ATS Standard blade fuses

How to Test and Replace a Car Fuse: Fuse boxes come with a fuse puller. You could remove and install fuses with puller. Remove the fuse and hold it up to the light. The small filament should be continuous from one side to the other. If the filament is melted, it means that something overheated the circuit. If in doubt, use a multi-meter to check for continuity across the two terminals. If the fuse has burned out, simply insert a new fuse of the proper amperage rating in the slot.

  • Testing the health of a car fuse typically requires no more than a visual inspection or testing with an in-block fuse tester.
  • Most cars have one or two fuse boxes under the hood, next to the enginMost cars have one or two fuse boxes under the hood, next to the engine or battery even having a fuse box inside the car
  • Warnings:To avoid electrical shock, make sure the car’s power is turned off before handling a multimeter or any fuses.

What is a fuse type, and why do I need to know which one I have?

The different types of fuses are listed for reference to avoid to buy the wrong fuse. (Notes: The fuses we sell is Regular blade type fuses)

Each fuse is printed with the rated current in amperes on the top. These types of fuses come in six different physical dimensions:

  • Micro2.
  • Micro3.
  • LP-mini (APS), also known as low-profile mini.Unofficially, the "low-profile mini" fuse is sometimes incorrectly called "Micro" since the term means smaller than mini, but recently fuses using the Micro name have been released.
  • Mini (APM / ATM). The mini fuses were developed in the 1990s.
  • Regular (APR / ATC / ATO / ATS) blade-type fuses, also known as standard, were developed in 1976 as ATO by Littelfuse[1] for low voltage use in motor vehicles. Bussmann makes the ATC[2] that also complies with the same ISO 8820-3 and SAE J1284 standards. The "C" and "O" don't refer to closed/open.
  • Maxi (APX), heavy-duty.

A bargain compared to buying onzie-twozie pieces. I especially like the compact case that keeps these orderly until I drop it then this becomes a jig-saw puzzle. Not easy for these old eyes to read the values but once I read one then the color coding takes effect and I can sort out a specific value set (in jigsaw mode).

Nice pack and assortment for the price. I needed a 1 amp fuse and they are not easy to find. A single fuse cost me $3. I got this large assortment for just a little more. Next time I’ll have what I need.

What is there to really review about fuses? They are clearly organized in a case and the fuse element is clearly visible through the plastic to easily identify a bad fuse! Exactly what I needed when I needed it at a great price point!

Purchased during an electrical overhaul on my boat. The price was great for how many fuses you receive. Every size you would most likely ever need in a standard blade fuse. With the kit this size there are ample spares to add to my tool kit in the event of a fuse blowing. Fuses appear to be standard quality with no obvious defects. Recommend these as the value is outstanding!

I like the wide range of values but, despite the vendor's statements to the contrary, the values are NOT easy to read, even out of the fuse panel. They are impossible to read while installed in the fuse panel at an angle under the sink on the wall of the cabinet of my truck camper, even with a powerful flashlight. The values are lightly embedded in the plastic and not highlighted with white, which when installed makes them contrast dramatically against fuses that highlight the values in white.Because of the reasonable cost and wide range of values I am going to carry this item as an emergency fuse kit only, and use them only as temporary replacement fuses until I can fix the problem that caused the blown fuse. However I like to clearly see the values of the fuses in the panel so I will eventually get a more identifiable fuse to replace the temporary one.

These fuses are at a great price & good quality. I have bought these packs for 2 years now that use in a repair shop. I was skeptical at first but have proven to be a good quality fuse. I will keep buying as long as they are available!

This is a good assortment and quantity for the cost. I wish the printing on the fuse was easier to read. The rating is embossed but not filled with white paint. The container is just the right size to hold the quantity of fuses supplied. Since the ATC fuse type is not as common anymore I may never need to purchase these again as long as I live.In the image, the fuse on the left is from another source and the one on the right is from this container.

I got this kit for our RV. I liked that it had basically every possible amp value. It comes in a case, tightly packed, color coded, with a sheet telling you each fuse capacity rating. The the sheet is really redundant; each fuse is clearly marked. This is great for vehicles or for RVs, and has ample spares. Well worth the minor investment.
