It's a thick sheet of steel you put in your oven. The price is more than reasonable and it does make a difference when we make a pizza at home. Got tired of the stones cracking and went for more drastic measures. It also helps when baking other things as the temperature in the oven is more stable with the added mass (we put it on a different rack when not cooking directly on it.)

I've had this pizza steel for 9 months and so far it's been great. I am able to achieve much better results then I did with my old baking stone in my conventional oven. I just crank the oven up to 550 for an hour and I'm ready to bake pizza. I have not had a problem with cooking multiple pizzas either.I did soak it in vinegar for 2-3 days, then scrubbed it when I received it but that's part of the deal for the price. This is a great value if you are willing to put in the work up front to clean it properly.

The product is exactly as stated. The price is great if you are willing to put some effort into cleaning it up and then seasoning it. I had some issues getting it delivered via USPS but the company worked with me and resent a second one via UPS. Great company to work with.

It is useful for baking breads and pizza! I treated it, but it still stains a bit.

We have used this in the oven as a pizza steel and it worked amazing. Planning on using it on the grill as a griddle also.It does need to be cleaned prior to use. Soaked in vinegar for 2 days, the mill scale came off easily. Ran a file along the edge to knock the edge off. Used an orbital sander to polish it a bit. Seasoned it with avocado oil and ran it in a 500 degree oven for an hour three times, letting it cool completely between seasonings.

Arrived fast & in good shape.A little clean up necessary. Wrapped in shop towels, put in plastic garbage bag, soaked good in vinegar, let set about 12 hours, washed off with water hose, looked great.Pretreat the same as a black cast iron skillet. Easy! Now you have something that won't break and probably worksbetter that than "stone", @ less than 1/2 the price & will last you a lifetimeIt works great for pizza & bread.

Was looking for a budget pizza steel - my oven isn't deep enough to fit the more popular 16" by 16" size, so I opted for this slightly smaller size. From what I've read online, it seems like there are varying opinions as to whether or not it's required that you completely remove the mill scale and if just a scrub with soap/water/stiff brush will suffice to get the worst of it off before you season it. I can tell you from personal experience that the scrubbing method (even using coarse sandpaper) will not completely remove the mill scale.I opted to go for a complete removal of the mill scale - I placed the steel in a contractor bag and completely covered it with vinegar (about 1.5 gallons) overnight. The next day, I took a wire grill brush (primary) and 220-grit sandpaper (secondary) to the steel, and, other than a few stubborn spots that required a bit of elbow grease, the mill scale came right off. Hosed the steel down with water, then sprayed it with Windex (supposedly helps to neutralize any remaining vinegar, but this might be overkill). Thoroughly washed the steel with soap and a steel wool scrubber, rinsed it off, and dried it completely. Seasoned with flaxseed oil - coated the entire steel, wiped off as much excess as I could with paper towel, put in the oven for an hour at 400. Repeated the seasoning process a total of 3 times. Success!

I read quite a few reviews some good and some bad and have to say the people that are complaining forget they purchased a $30 item. I don't typically take this much time but wanted to show you what it is you will get and can see this as an excellent pizza steel. Again this steel deserves all 5 stars. When you get it here is what to do:1-The first pic is the product when you get it2- The second picture is are the edges of the pizza steel, mine did not have any sharp edges3- To soak the steel in vinegar for 3 days I put a black plastic bag with a junk towel and and vinegar4- I washed it in soapy water and dried immediately5- I used grape seed oil to season it. Be careful to not apply too much or it will be sticky. If you put too much on use steel wool, then re-season. I ran my oven at 500 degrees to season. I did it 2 times.6- This is the steel that is perfect for making products.Enjoy making those pizzas.
