I have purchased this to build a sand battery prototype. In the quick test I have done it worked. Time will tell if it lasts.

I needed a heat source for a medium size chamber to do testing of samples. Since there is no mains supply in the chamber, I could not use a regular room heater or a flame. I got the Marhynchus heating plate and it was perfect for my experiment. It is a ceramic electric heating plate that powers off 12V and it heats up quickly. Since the voltage is low, I can control it using a low voltage relay and a controller board so I can control the temperature in the chamber.

This heating element gets Hot. I wanted it to melt plastic, and it does that with power to spare. I will probably pick more up for future projects, so would recommend.

I connected the 12v element to a 12volt solar panel and it started to heat up nicely for about 30 seconds then completely stopped heating. Checked with digital meter and it is open circuit. Connected to 12v bench power supply set to 12v dc and nothing. Wasted money on this!

These heating elements pull about 10 amps when cold and 5 amps when hot. I selected the 220c elements so that the heat would dissipate faster and keep the wattage flowing. However, while powered, they give off a mild chemical smell which made them unusable for my project.
