Before I ordered this, I contacted Sherrill Tree to make SURE that this would fit my Silky Hayauchi's 21-foot pole.As soon as I unpacked it, it was evident that this mounting bracket is NOT interchangeable with the Silky one, as the Silky one can be removed and installed without tools. The Sintung Lopper does NOT have the same holes in its mounting bracket, which forces me to use a pair of screws and tiny nuts to attach it, making it impossible to quickly swap out the blade and the lopper in the field. In spite of the lopper's weight (which makes it a challenge to use when the 21-foot pole is fully-extended), it's not that sharp and it frequently does NOT cut the small branch all the way through.Even worse, it frequently gets "stuck" open of closed, making the work even harder.Frankly, I would have been embarrassed to have mass-produced this and then marketed it specifically for a pole that it is NOT made to fit easily. If only Silky made one.

Its a nice compliment to the aggressive teeth on my hayate. I did have to modify the base quite a bit with a vice and hammer to fit the larger diameter hayate pole. I also used metric wing nuts to make it easier to remove. The blade is sharp and the ratchet mechanism works well. Occasionally it will not snap back open but I'll bump the pole on the ground to shock it back open. Very thin flexible branches will sometimes get the blade stuck but a few tugs and taps will snap it back open while it's still up in the air. Im happy with it despite some complaints I've read about. Makes pruning much easier to get all the small branches before they get to thick, then I'll swap to the blade and get all the big stuff.

One needs to be very careful, needs a hard to get adaptor for some Silky Hayauchi poles. Other merchants do mention this esp. in New Zealand Australia. This does not fit all Silky poles. We found an adaptor, that looks like the one offered overseas, in the US out of Nevada, it was a scam, got our credit credit info and soon over $2K in fraud charges. Huge mess BEWARE!

On March 24, 2023, 9:00 am pst, I confirmed with SherrillTree by phone that Sherrilltree provides no Safety, Installation, Operation, Maintenance, or Video for this item. This Lopper could accidentally cut life line ropes, your head/neck/shoulder/arm/wrist if improperly installed, used, or maintained. SherrillTree is a large Organization and should 'not' sell a potentially dangerous tool without offering any Safety, Installation, Operation, Maintenance, or Video. I now have a reduced trust of SherrillTree and won't use this Lopper.

I was so excited to finally find a pruning head for my notch telescoping pole Saul. Unfortunately, this isn’t as good as I thought it was going to be. I can cut some really thick branches and it has a pretty smart design ratcheting system. Where if you pull a little bit then let go it will go onto the next hole giving you more torque and so on and so on and it has four holes which will give you maximum torque to cut through a 2 1/2 inch branch pretty easily, but you have to remember the string to pole is going through three different pulleys giving you a three day one power ratio so in order to pull 6 inches you need to pull 18 inches of rope, which makes it quite a pain in the butt for small branches. I am experimenting with running the rope through less pulleys. If I only need to prune small branches however, this seems to get stuck on small branches constantly , I need to pull it down every three or four branches, and under do the spring by hand. The design of it is almost perfect except for the angle of the spring because when it’s closed, the spring is actually keep being it closed by helping it because of the alignment of it there’s not really any help in opening back up when it’s stuck , other than that it’s sharp and it cuts really good but you definitely need to loosen the bolts a little bit put some grease on it be prepared to pull really far and don’t think you’re going to use this as an every day pruner this is the type of tool that you pull out to cut a couple of big branches that you can’t reach it is definitely not worth using often. I should note, I am a professional tree worker and work on trees every single day, which is why I bought this for climbing a tree. It might be good to reach some thing that I can’t climb to, but when I’m on the ground and I have to clip a bunch of small branches on a big roll of hedges this is definitely not the product for that . I’m actually pretty upset because I was so excited about it so I will give this a four out of 10.

I'm disappointed. This pruner/lopper DOES fit the Sentei polesaws (I also ordered the 21' from Amazon). However, the design does NOT incorporate the convenient "quick-attach" feature of the Hayauchi saw included with Notch Sentei polesaws........an integral push-down button and a single knob-fitted screwInstead, you have 6 tiny easily-lost-onsite screws, nuts and washers to affix the pruner/lopper to the polesaw. It's not convenient.

This is a replacement for the same pruner attachment. The old one had some parts that had come loose and fell off, so it was no longer making cuts properly. The new pruner attachment cuts like the old one used to, keeping the old one for spare parts.
