It's a great mystery to me where the heck I lost the saw guide from my Makita skill saw. It's probably lying in someone's backyard. I really wish I knew because when you don't have it you end up doing things like clamping a set of vise grips on the front base plate to use as a guide. Yeah great, that's gonna be really accurate. I was happy to find these saw guides as a replacement for the one I lost because I've really been missing not having one. My original Makita guide was a little heavier gauge metal. These guides are a little flexy but that's not the end of the world. I do like that they have a scale rule on the arm but it's in metric and I would prefer inches since that's what I work with. The one thing about my old saw guide that I always despised is that it was too short to set in place and cut something exactly three and a half inches wide. From the looks of the length of these, they have continued that tradition. Overall I'm glad I found these, they should work fine and they are much better than improvising a guide. Plus now I have two of them, one to lose.
