In the picture: Name Brand on the right, this version on the left (this is just a sample of 4; you will receive 16 pieces)These gears are comparable to the name brand. I would place them on-par with the real thing. There are very slight visual differences in a couple of the gears, but others you cannot tell the difference at all.All gears are the correct size (circumference, teeth length, teeth spacing, weight, etc) when compared to the real thing. My 17 year old son (aka, one with LOADS of experience in building blocks & contraptions) tested these by building a couple of small gear-heavy contraptions and found them to work perfectly.The amount & variety of sizes of gears in this pack is pretty impressive. I would definitely recommend if you need extra pieces like this and don't want to spend on name brand prices.

Extra Technic gears... Who doesn't need a few extra??? These are great as replacements for worn-down gears, or if that MOC just didn't have quite enough movement the way it was. A few extra gears can go a long way.
