Oh Yeah - I do, indeed, like this 1/2" 4 flute TiAlN coated Sulfras end mill. I popped her in a collet and did some dry, hand fed slot milling in a chunk of cast @ 600- 650rpm .100" depth of cut. She cuts cast iron well and leaves a decent finish for my mill. I put some 304 SS (approx. 30 HRC) in the vice - (same rpm) side mill .070" about 7/8" on the vertical. Then I took a 50 and a 100 thousandths cut off the top. All's good in SulfrasVille I think I could double - triple the depths - without any problems. Nice end mill. I inspected under 10x - it's hard to tell I used her. I like the TiAlN.Sulfras claims this end mill is good up to 45HRC and I am inclined to believe them. I'm really tired of all the vendors selling budget end mills for ten bucks and claiming they will cut 68HRC - they WoN't. It is refreshing to see a company like Sulfras putting out honest numbers.Looks like they're not offering this half inch anymore. That's a shame it's a nice end mill. Maybe when the 3/8 gets a little older it'll get a little bigger.7 Super Novas for The Sulfras 1/2" 4 flute TiAlN Coated End Mill ~ Thanks for Reading โ Have an Incredible Life! ~

I have a little bench-top milling machine that I use for hobby work, so carbide isn't really necessary for most jobs. It does tend to last a long time and it's nice to have on hand for the occasional hardened steel workpieces. This end mill comes in a nice plastic sleeve to help protect and organize your tools. The cutting edges are nicely ground and very sharp to the touch. With my hobby mill I can't push this tool to its limits with speed and feed rates, but I did find it to cut very well in mild steel. The edges remained sharp after my test cuts and the surface finish was acceptable for a 4-flute end mill. I also tested the Sulfuras 2-flute carbide end mill on the same material and found it to give a better surface finish on the bottom of the cut, while the 4-flute performed slightly better when side milling. For general material removal in steel I would choose the 4-flute, especially if you have a mill like mine that runs at relatively low RPM. Overall I think this is a great end mill for this price point and it works well for my needs.

These are good quality bits. So far no color change, the edge is still sharp, and no burrs on the bit anywhere it is used to cut the material. I use them on soft and hard woods. With a set of (5) I expect they will last quite sometime. For the price of about $9 per bit this is an excellent Quality set that is just as good as higher cost bits I have purchased.

Review for the 1/4" Carbide Square Nose 4 Flute End MillI examined two of the end mills from this set of five under a microscope. As shown in the photos, the edges are clean and finely ground, indicating good quality.I will update this review after further use to comment on whether the end mills dull quickly or if the carbide shatters easily. One drawback is the lack of information on Surface Feet per Minute (SFM), RPM, and Inches Per Minute (IPM) for various materials, which is consistent with other end mills from this company. Providing this information would be very helpful for optimizing chip load and cutting parameters, ensuring the tool operates at peak efficiency. In the meantime, you can refer to typical guidelines for chip load, RPM, IPM, and other parameters for carbide end mills available online.Overall, considering the price, these end mills are well worth the money.

My brother was cutting A36 steel and said it was like driving a Porsche down Main Street during rush hour. It looks cool, but is extremely overpowered for the task at hand. He did a full depth cut and cranked his manual mill as fast as he could and it cut through the steel like butter. He has not yet worked on anything other than mild steel with this end mill, but so far it's working out great!

Works as desired. Takes abuse well (used one of them in a hand drill as a deburring tool, and it has held up better than I expected.) Will likely buy again when they wear out.
