I use these mallets for striking tuning forks. They elicit a clear tone from the tuning forks and don't inhibit the forks in any way. They are of good quality, too. The wooden handles have been sanded, so there's no splintering, and the rubber tips have been glued on securely.Believe me, I have seen mallets that you can get splinters just by picking the thing up and the rubber tips are simply stuck onto the end of the handle with no glue, which consequently, fall off with every strike.These are well-finished mallets.

These mallets are exactly as shown, they are a nice size for small hands and/or when you don't want a "big" strike. Our kids use these on kids glockenspiels and xylophones and they have a slightly muted sound, but still very audible, it's like a slightly lower volume control than a wooden mallet, so it's perfect!
