I had to resolder the header and CF adapter. Contacts were oxidized and not soldered to the board.

Be prepared to service these adapters yourself if you buy them. They are likely rejects; both of the boards I received work, but one had multiple bent CF pins and the other has a pin on the IDE connector side that is not soldered.CompactFlash is pin-compatible with IDE, so the only components on these boards are the two connectors, a jumper header, a resistor, and an LED. This makes them quite reparable and a bargain if you know how to. Otherwise, don't bother.

One was dead on arrival and the second one stopped being readable 48 hours after installation. Not worth the trouble, specially if you plan to stick them in an old laptop.
