My previous ones don't have the handles just straight bars. These are nicer and fit perfectly into the springs.

These torsion spring winding rods are a game-changer for anyone needing to adjust or replace garage door torsion springs! Specifically designed for winding and unwinding the tension on the springs, they’re an essential tool for safely balancing the weight of a garage door. Don’t even think about doing this task without these rods—they're crucial for avoiding personal injury. The rods themselves are solidly built with a 7/16-inch diameter and 16-11/16-inch length, fitting most residential garage doors perfectly. The zinc steel construction with a galvanized surface adds durability and rust resistance, ensuring they’ll last. I really appreciate the unique chamfering at the top, which increases friction and prevents slipping, making the whole process safer. The thread-designed rod head is another bonus, offering more friction and energy savings during use. Plus, the included rubber non-slip handles and gloves are a fantastic touch, providing extra grip and comfort while protecting your hands from abrasions. These winding rods are well thought out and make garage door spring adjustments much easier and safer. Highly recommended!

Our garage door came unwound, I guess you would call it, and we paid somewhere around 120.00 to have them come out and fix it. So, we ordered this and my husband tested it out and he said it works as intended. Now, when our garage door comes unwound again, we have the tools to fix it ourselves and save some money.

These are well-made - essentially they are just steel bars of the exact right diameter to tension the incredibly strong spring inside a garage door track. When you need them, you'll be glad you have them. These have a padded handle and some diamond knurling to help keep them seated. Also included is a pair of gloves to help with grip. It's a good set of tools. I used them and they worked much better than my other improvised solutions!

These are a must for anyone planning on doing garage door work. I have seen people use large screwdrivers and various metal rods with disastrous results. This is the second garage door I have have to release and tighten tension springs on. These bars are definitely worth the price to safely and effectively do the job. Non slip grips on the handle make the job easy. The gloves are a nice touch too. Good value for the money.

The previous owners of my old house made some poor decisions when they made modifications to it. Chiefly among these was their choice to remove one of the four walls in a garage with a floating roof, cut into the ceiling joists, and install a garage door the size of the wall they removed. As you may have guessed, the garage is falling over and the garage door no longer opens.Choices were made. The garage door has to go and a wall has to take its place. But, in order to do that, I have to detention the door. I'm guessing that if you're reading this, then I have no new information for you.So this next part is all for the people who aren't sure and are looking at this listing wondering if this is something they really need to remove their garage door.Yes. You do. These springs can pack a serious wallop. Especially the old, warped and folded ones on my door. I will not be doing this myself, I have a very large, muscular person to handle this for me, because I don't like ER visits.Spend the money, get the rods, walk away unharmed. The bars themselves have a nice rubberized section that's firmly attached. They also have a diamond etching pattern on the end to be inserted. Which is excellent because you really don't want these puppies to slip.My buddy is very glad that I got these, and I have more peace of mind in asking him to remove my shady old garage door!
