I noticed a buzzing noise in my ac condenser unit. I took the cover off and found that the original relay was buzzing after more than 20 years of service. I replaced it with this on and all is quieter now.

The contactor worked for me. However, I noticed the coils are of thinner material than the old one. Also, terminals were not labeled and no instruction in box.

This 40 amp double pole contactor was a direct fit replacement for the original single pole 30 amp contactor on my 30+ year old Goodman Condenser. The highly publicized issues projected for the power grid prompted me to do a depth inspection and maintenance on my AC system. In the process, I found that the contacts on the contactor were badly corroded and pitted. I cleaned up the contacts with sandpaper, but with the projection of Brown-Outs and the age of the unit, I decided that it would be prudent to provide the best operating environment for this aging system by replacing the contactor and installing a Hard Start kit for the compressor. The Contactor was a direct fit, with the original mounting holes and screws. The high voltage power connections on this unit are the captive style instead of the screw type on the original. The number of spade type connections on the new contactor was identical to the original. The new contactor has a shield over the contacts which will help to keep debris out of that area. The installation was quick and easy, and the only need for a power tool was to drill a small starter hole to mount the Hard Start Kit.Which new contacts and the hard start kit, I have attempted to provide the best operating environment possible for the 30+ year old compressor. The current craziness in the AC industry on refrigerants and heating makes me nervous about replacing my condensing unit. The new refrigerants are flamable, R-410 is "hurting the environment" and the R-22 in my unit puts holes in the ozone layer. Combining refrigeration issues with the potential outlawing of Natural Gas furnaces, has me babying my existing system untill it finally dies. I realize that newer units are more energy efficient, but I have found that the newer equipment is not designed with the quality that my system has. I am confident that the new parts will help keep this system going.

This contactor developed an annoying hum after a few days use. Too loud!

Item would be good, but the contactor blades fail to close adequately due to high internal friction. If it closes, it won't release properly after the coil is de-energized due to the same internal friction. As seen in photo, plunger stays stuck even when coil has no power. Cannot use reliably!

I worked for ten years as a Construction and Startup Test Engineer at Nuclear Power Plants. This Contactor is of the same quality as those the NPP, Nuclear Power Plant purchased to NRC, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations for Earthquake Testing, Quality Control and traceability of all material during all stages of manufacture. Looks and feels just like those at an NPP! Do NOT waste your money on one that will go bad in less than a year like the one MOC I bought last fall.

old relay on our home ac unit had bad contacts. Ordered this, installed, connected wires, with power off of course, and worked like a charm, Easy install, take photos with your phone before disconnecting wires to ensure proper reconnection.

Our 22+ year old American Standard condenser unit began the habit of not turning off when the thermostat told it to. I suspected the 240 volt contactor (relay) as the likely culprit. It was a single pole contactor but I saw this 2-pole relay and figured why not? Especially since it was marked down as a "used, good" condition with only the packaging damaged. Received it two days ago (indeed it appeared new) and had it installed in less than 30 minutes. It took that long because I had to modify the two high voltage cable connectors on the output side of the relay. It has been working fine so far. Thanks, Amazon for the great deal.

Not much to say about a relay. It is well built and works as it should.

Trane air-handler was making a loud electrical buzzing sound when it kicked in. It might have been when the resistance heat was being used.My original contactor was model #c147094p03. Amazon showed this item. I had it in one day. From the specs show it more than capable. Working great. Saved me an expensive service call.Make sure what you're doing. Turn the power off and check it. Move one wire at a time from old to new.
