I was looking for reed spline to replace the cane on my chairs. Being somewhat of a Novice, I needed spline to hold the cane in place. The charts provided on the website read, 3/16 inch groove takes a No. 8 spline. This stuff is as large as a pencil (almost) and is 3/16 diameter and would fill the grooves with no cane. I think this material is for weaving your own baskets etc.

After working with the #8 splines, I found that they had lots of loose fibers. I wonder how old these splines were after sitting in the warehouse. Perhaps it would be better to buy weaving material from a store.
