I returned this product because it was not as nice as described. The items looked very cheap (cheap in the sense of quality). I couldn’t trust that for any child.

My 8 year old son loves this advent calendar! The magic tricks were easy for him to perform and actually totally blew the minds of some of our friends 😂. It’s nice to now own some pretty solid magic trick items.The science days (make your own bouncy ball, make a hand warmer type bag, etc.) were a little more involved and sometimes messy (seemingly very harmless chemicals though). Made it hard to commit to one a day, so we got a little behind on our days.Overall, very fun and memorable!

This advent calendar was perfect for our nephew, who is interested in STEM. He was very excited to open each day to discover a new science activity or magic trick. The only reason for the 4 stars is because there were some difficult instructions. Some didn't make sense and we had to figure them out ourselves. Also, some of the science activities required materials that we didn't have in the house that day. The magic tricks were a lot of fun and are still being used after the holidays!

We always get our granddaughter (age 8) an advent calendar leading up to Christmas. She had so much fun performing all this magic / science each night. Most of the activities had everything you needed in the calendar. There were a few that needed household products, but nothing needed to be bought additionally.

I judge most items on whether or not I would purchase them again if needed. This is one that I am fairly certain I would not. I bought it mostly for the magic tricks as it included some that are common to a lot of chikdren’s magic kits so I was familiar enough to help with them if needed. The same is true for the science experiments included, but they have not executed as well as others from similar sets. I’ve found about half of the items useful and fun to do with the grandkids. But mainly, the magic tricks. I also prefer to avoid big messes and some of the experiments can get messy quickly. And if you or the child attempting these is not familiar with the project, it is going to take a fair amount of time to read, understand and execute the instructions. Not even taking into consideration the gathering of materials and clean up. For this to be an advent kit, finding this kind of time even half of the days in the month of December can be difficult. Maybe sad this is the case, but it is a reality for many. The grands definitely preferred the advent calendars with little fidgets and building blocks more than this one. Lesson learned.
