My original controller failed because some water leaked on it. The slide was in the out position, and I needed to move the trailer. One side would start moving in, but the other side would not move. I swapped the motor connectors on the controller and the problem was reversed, so I knew I didn't have any problems with the motors or wires going to the motors. The error code I was getting was for a short in the wiring of one of the motors. The short was in the controller and was caused by the water damage. The original controller had part number 13398-D0 printed on it. The new controller has the same part number printed on it.I didn't have time to risk this controller not working, so I ordered this controller and the official Lippert controller that cost 4.5x as much. This controller seems to be working fine, but I think I'll keep the official controller so I have a backup. I have no way to know for sure if this controller has all the safety features of the original controller. I have only moved the slide in about 1 foot to test if the controller was working. I will be fully retracting the slide later today and moving the trailer. If I have any issues, I'll update this review.EDIT: I didn't have any issues with the new controller.

I failed to install or test before the return window closed, my mistake. The module was bad out of the box, DOA. I have installed hundreds of similar modules/ controllers and this one is simple as it gets, basic plug and play. No errors made on my part. I rarely go with non OEM electronics parts but thought I'd give this one a shot as on close (external) inspection it is virtually indistinguishable from OEM. Spend the money, buy the good stuff.

Installed the unit and it seems to work fine thus far. I moved the slide in and out to time the motors and have since moved it in and out a few times and it works as it should. So far so good.

The first 2 I ordered that were cheaper and made in China did not work. The 3rd one finally worked.

My husband installed this item on our travel trailer. We were lucky it was the exact thing we needed and now the slide works beautifully. He never mentioned that it was difficult to install so I can't comment on that part of it.

This is plug and play. Just unhook one wire at a time and you are good to go. The one I replaced was 10 years old.
