This is truly a solid item. It latches in place and is solid until removed. After use, I just throw it in the dishwasher on the top rack. Yes I get the irony. It is easy to install and actually quite effective. It covers my entire sink with ease. I will say my husband is much more likely to install and use it than I am. I guess I just accept that splashing myself is just part of doing a bunch of dishes.
