This can be used for a lot of things but I bought it for my ring doorbell because I was sick of having to take it down to charge it every few months.I just had to drill a small hole through my door frame and feed the wire through and attach it to my doorbell. Then plug it in to an outlet and no more charging for me.I have an outlet right next to my door so I don't need a long cable but it is 20 feet long so it should be suitable for most applications.

My previous transformer was ruined by lightning. I bought this one to replace it. Nest thermostat still didn't work, so I assumed the thermostat was damaged as well. Bought a new thermostat, and still didn't work using this transformer. Bought a different transformer and both thermostats work with it. Will be returning.
