Medium flexibility rubber conforms well to pre-drilled 1/2" holes. A 1/4" - 20 brass nut is embedded in each bushing allowing a separately- purchased machine screw or bolt to secure a bracket to nearly any surface for a secure, waterproof installation. I used 16 of these and stainless steel bolts to mount two 100-watt photovoltaic panels on the roof of my travel trailer so that I could recharge my house battery when camping off-grid. A suitable sealant (silicon or lap sealant) should also be used.
