Horsehair braid is a kind of crinoline netting that can be used as a decorative trim, or an internal stiffener. Its unusual properties -- it can stretch and shrink to become narrower or wider -- make it popular in theater and dance costumes, for millinery and hair accessories, and for historical re-enactors. Use horsehair braid to stiffen hems, puff out puff sleeves, make belts, bows, and headpieces. In our horsehair braid, there's a gathering thread on one side, which can be pulled to shrink the braid, creating more shape possibilities. Once upon a time it was made of horse hair, but is now made of 100% Polyester. There are two weights of horsehair braid: hard and soft. Soft horsehair like in this listing has a little gentler hold than hard horsehair. *Please be aware that there will occasionally be up to 3 separate pieces in each 25 yard roll.*

This crinoline worked great for a salsa costume I was building. I couldn't find crinoline in an exact match in color to the skirt and this transparent trim fit the need perfectly. It might show more on darker colors.

Quick and easy. Needed some poof on the bottom of underskirt. Nice semi stiff braid kept the heavy skirt out just enough that you don’t get fabric under foot.

The product was very nice, but for the 1" is just wasn't strong enough for the dress. The return was quite simple. I'm very pleased and will consider them again for other purchases!
