This works quite well, but is medium duty. The plates will bend under heavy load, but for the shade tree mechanic, these are adequate.

This tool is fairly weak. I was able to keep it from opening with little force from my hand. I opted for a slightly more expensive tool that is more sturdy.

I made this purchase and before having a chance to try the tool the return date expired. Unfortunately for me the first time I went to use the spreader it failed to work. It will not spread 4 piston calipers.Huge waste of money for me! Don’t make the same mistake as me.

This tool is a champion. Does exactly what it was made to do with ease.

Between my vehicle and my girlfriend's vehicle I do a brake job about every 18 months. I've always used a big c-clamp so now I'll be glad to use this more efficient tool instead. It is big and robustly made so it should handle my occasional use without fail.

If you are just starting to learn how to work on things the first thing that most new DIY mechanics normally start with our brakes. No matter if you have a million dollar car or a $1,000 car every one of them has one thing in common. They all use brake pads. They all have the same sort of principle of design built into them. That is when you put your foot on the brake a piston on all four wheels moves the brake pads into place to slow you down or stop your car. No matter what brake pad you are using they wear out. This tool here will fulfill your needs. Now on some models you will need something a little different but for the most part this is what you need to work on your front brakes and on certain rear brakes. I would say this would have you about covered 85% of the time.
