About this item

  • Food Safety: The cheese grater spatula is made of food-grade stainless steel for food safety
  • Easy to Operate: The edge of the shaving spatula head is rounded without hurting your hand; the spatula surface is smooth, and shaving one piece at a time, the thin slices of shaving can just be taken up by the spatula surface, which can be easily transferred to the plate

I have never had a cheese slicer of this type before and so I thought it would nice to try one. I have my mom's ancient wire slicer that was all I knew for slicing cheese, other than a sharp knife. I ordered this and was happy to see that it seems sturdy after I got it. Then I realized I had no chunk cheese here to test it, lol. I really wanted a good test, so I ordered some Brunost (Norwegian brown cheese) but had to wait several days for delivery because my local stores do not carry it. Anyway, the cheese arrived and I hurried to try out my new cheese slicer. Brunost is not a hard cheese, but I found that this slicer did not cut so easily either. It seems sharp enough and I think maybe it is more that I need to practice using this type of a cheese slicer. My slices of Brunost were more like thin scrappy pieces, lol. They certainly made a good breakfast on a slice of toast, regardless of looks! All in all, I like this cheese slicer. It is sturdy, not hard to use (but needs practice) and easy to clean up with hand washing or in a dishwasher. It probably would make a good gift to someone just starting out with their own apartment or a dorm room. The price is definitely affordable for most. I will recommend this cheese slicer, but I would say it is not for anyone looking for a perfection looking slice of cheese.

It’s ok but not very good. It doesn’t seem very sharp. It came almost flat so I had to bend it to make it work at all. So, it’s just ok…takes some strength to slice the cheese…just not as sharp as it should be.

slices nice. It is a medium slice if you push hard but can get a thinner slice if you apply less pressure. Would not suggest pushing too hard as the handle seems a little light and could possibly break.

IQwork's Cheese Slicer, Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer Spatula works perfectly and I am happy to share this culinary tool with guest when sharing cheese.Cheese slicer is solidly made, sharp, has a handle which allows hanging, easy to clean, and works perfectly.Of course, harder cheeses fit the tool's design where soft cheese would likely just make a mess.

I generally buy large blocks of cheese in the grocery store because it’s more economical. I slice the cheese for my boyfriend’s weekly lunches at his office. I pack healthy finger foods that are easy for him to grab and eat when he has time. Cheese and crackers are one of his favorites. Many times, I struggle to cut through a large cheese block with one of my steak knives and finally decided to look for a handy cheese knife like this IQworks Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer Spatula. The Ad says it is made of “food grade stainless steel for food safety,” but nowhere is stainless steel imprinted on this spatula knife designed to cut through “a variety of hard, semi-soft, and soft cheeses.” It has a “nonslip hollow handle,” that unfortunately can accumulate water inside of it, as shown in my photo of the toothpick I could slide into the opening. The end with the hanging loop doesn’t appear to have any holes when I tested it by trying to insert a sewing needle. If this is truly stainless steel, accumulated water won’t really matter, unless it leaks out when you use the slicer.I began holding the IQworks Slicer Spatula in several different ways (photos) as I tried to slice some Jarlsberg, which is considered a semi-hard cheese. I liked the 4” length of the handle that provided me with good gripping capability. The “5 nonslip bumps on the front of the handle” are plastic, not rubber. My thumb got indentations from these ridges when I pressed down and pulled the knife towards me to slice the Jarlsberg. My arthritic joints weren’t too happy with this slicer, but I figured out it was easier for me to slice when I pressed the spatula with my left hand as I pulled the handle towards me with my right hand at the same time. Perhaps, Jarlsberg just wasn’t soft enough for me to slice with this IQworks, or the cheese needs to come more to room temperature before I try to slice it.This product does slice cheese, but it just may not be the best design for people with arthritic fingers.

Over decades I have been on a quest to find a cheese slicer to replace the one I brought from Sweden some 45 years ago. I have sharpened its edge a couple of times and the handle broke many years ago. It is shown in pic 1 next to this one.I don’t know why it appears so difficult to design and manufacture a good cheese slicer. Out of all the ones I have tried over the years none has been as good as my old one and this one is probably the worst. As delivered, this one is useless with an edge that may or may not cut melted butter. Pic 2 shows the result of trying to slice a moderately hard cheese; it didn’t cut as much as it kind of tore a piece off. In contrast my trusty 45-year old cut a nice clean slice (pic 3). I then spent some 10 minutes trying to sharpen the edge on diamond stones but the result was still dismal (pic 4). I think the whole shape of the edge is poorly designed. This kind of cheese is about the easiest to cut cleanly. The claims that this will cut almost anything from soft cheeses to fruit to ham (really???) are simply ridiculous. The only thing I agree with the company about is that it may be OK to serve pizza slices.

This cheese grater is sharp, heavy-duty, and has a solid, comfortable handle. I wish I had gotten one of these a long time ago!

I purchased this cheese slicer to replace one that got tangled up in the garbage disposal. This slicer works much better than the one I replaced. It has ridges that allow for better grip which keeps the slicer from slipping while I'm cutting cheese. It is something that seems insignificant but really makes all the difference. The "blade" is sharp and cuts through the cheese very smoothly. This is one of those kitchen tools you don't think you need but find out you really can't do without.
