My 2012 camp trailer did not have a pre installed solar charge port. This port is same as port pre installed on newer campers to hook up mobile solar panels. Requires additional parts. Additional matching wire of same guage from solar panel to port and from port to battery. I use 10 guage port and 10 guage extra wire w 20 amp in line fuse close to solar panel to protect wiring. Solar panel must be used with solar charge controller either installed directly on solar panel or in line after port on camp trailer. It is sometimes advantages to have charge controller installed on solar panel so the panel can be used to charge other batteries not part of the camper. I have used 100 watt reynogy suitcase panel for many years without issue. Can purchase with or without charge controller. Provides up to 5.5 amps of charging in full sunlight
