These mutes came together as a pair in a little case. The greatest fear I have when using mutes is whether the material used is soft enough. I abhor the mutes that are stiff and dig themself into the wood of the bridge in order to mute it. I find that it damages it over time.This mute is rubbery and soft enough to be effective at muting the violin without being damaging after multiple uses. It does a good job at making the violin seem less tinny and more generally muted. Overall a great purchase and useful for minimizing the sound made when practicing.

This mute is pretty good, it makes the violin much quieter for when I practice. You can still hear it for sure, but when practicing in my home office I don't bother others in their rooms.For the price, this is a steal even if it was just one, but for a two pack, that's absolutely crazy.

I never knew violin mutes existed until I found them here. It’s a great way to lower the volume of an acoustic violin without having to change the playing style. Great value and recommended.

A well priced and effective rubber mute. If more muting is needed, wrapping fabric tape on the inside can further decrease string vibration. For the electric violin players (instrument without acoustic resonating body chamber) this won't do much. I was hoping it would give a similar effect as putting a rubber bridge on a guitar by reducing sustain, and it does, if extra material is added to the mute but it's really not enough to be worth the trouble. I realize this is a niche use, so no stars deducted for not being of value to also more quiet electric violins.
