Seam ripper will not stay exposed meaning you have to press as you rip your stitches. Not very practical

I told my sister about these while I was visiting her, and she was so intrigued that I decided to get them for her, too.CON: The housing on these are not well put together plastic and feel flimsy. The seam ripper won't stay extended unless you hold the slide bar open, making it awkward to use.PRO: The needle threader is the star of the show--How to thread a needle:1) Stick the eye end of your needle in the hole, making sure it faces where the hook comes out.2) Slide the bar to extend the hook. Give the needle a little tug to make sure the hook went through the eye.3) Loop your thread over the hook and, while holding it taut, release the bar so the hook retracts, taking the thread with it.4) Slowly and gently pull the needle out of the hole. About half the time, tension within the device hangs onto the thread so that when you pull out the needle, it's properly threaded.4.5) The rest of the time, a loop of thread will be sticking through the eye of the needle when you pull it out. Grab the loop and pull the thread through past the end of the loop, leaving only one strand of thread through the eye and your needle properly threaded. Otherwise, if you tug on the thread ends instead of the loop, the loop will pull out of the eye and you have to start over.It sounds more complicated than it is. I practiced a few times in order to figure it out. I had to do that because there were no directions included. Even still, these are pretty nifty and I'm very glad to have them. I hope my sister likes them as well as I do.

These were very cheaply constructed. The seam ripper came out and the thread needle is extremely difficult to use. Unless you place carefully it will not thread the needle.

2 in 1 Needle Threader and Seam Ripper from BOXOBThis little tool is rather cheaply made and does not perform as well as a static version of either function.I do a lot of cross-stitch but I'm old and my eyes are not as good as they used to be. I was hoping this little tool would help me jump a couple of hurdles that have developed on the Race Track of Life (TM) but it has fallen short. The biggest problem is that the seam ripper will not lock into position after you have pushed it outside of the handle, so you have to hold your thumb on the slider or it pops back in. This will get tiring very quickly and your thumb is not even in the correct position to manipulate the ripper adequately. I doubt a seamstress product tested this before release. The other problem, for me, is that even tho the threader on the other end is very very tiny, it will not pass thru the eyes of most of my needles. I had to move up to a size 24 needle before it would pass thru consistently. When it did work, it worked well, but that's not going to work for me, size 24 is too big for the stitching that I do. When you know, you know.I'm glad I tested this, now I can move on and find something else to get the help I need.

I could not get the needle threader to work at all. You have to keep applying pressure on the seam ripper to keep it open for use.
