I built a 24v DC power supply and needed a bridge rectifier which converts the AC output from the transformer to DC. The current requirement was only around 5-10A and with the low voltage this rectifier is far from its maximum rating of 1000V/30A. I did not mount the rectifier to a heatsink and even with a full load, it remains at ambient temperature. I used a 4700uF smoothing capacitor and found that the DC output was very clean with no noise and minimal ripple. The rectifier is a heavy duty type that can handle high voltages and currents, but it also works well for lighter duty applications. I cannot comment on how well this rectifier will work when operated closer to its maximum rating however when used at 50% of its current and typical voltages under 120v, it should last forever and not require any additional cooling.

I'm using this on a homebrew power supply. The bridge rectifier is pretty light weight - but I didn't stress it to 1000V or 30A. But, based on it's performance at 100V and 14A, it worked great!
