Easy installation instructions:
1)Disconnect ground (-) cable from battery and attach it to the mounting flange side of the threaded hole on the switch.
2)Using the supplied bolt, attach the switch to (-) battery post. The mounting flange on the thru-hole must contact the battery post.
3)Turn green knob fully clockwise to connect battery power.
4)To disconnect power, turn knob 1/4 turn counterclockwise. The knob can be removed for anti-theft. Keep connections clean and tight to assure optimum performance.

I read the reviews before purchasing and several people mentioned that the screw was too short to screw into the battery post. Well I just assumed they were doing something wrong. Well sure enough the damn screw is about 3 threads too short and will not catch in the battery post. I went to Walmart and purchase a longer battery post screw and spacers which unfortunately costs about as much as this product and was able to get it connected. Works like a charm now but you would think the manufacturer would read the damn reviews and include a longer screw.

The unit is pretty heavyweight and seems solid. There is a poor design issue. The disconnect knob holds the two metal plates together to provide connectivity through a sandwiched plastic insulator. To break contact the knob has to completely clear the threaded plate leaving the knob with nothing holding it in place. The threads are only one one plate. It’s easy for the knob to fall out if you’re not careful. I bought it for my lawn tractor thinking it would be easier to disconnect for the winter. It used to take me about a minute to unscrew the connectors, with this device it’s about 15 seconds. Since it’s only needed twice a year I realize that it really was a silly purchase for me. However, if you have a car with a battery drain issue the 15 seconds to connect or disconnect on a daily basis might make sense.

Installed one of these in my RV to disconnect the house power battery while on my solar generator so I don’t charge my house battery when using my power supply.Originally I just ordered this to attach to my deep cycle batteries 3/8 threaded post, put because of its position and my ground cable, I could bot make it work without a little fiddling. I also have very limited clearance over my top terminal battery because they are stored in my step. So I have no room to install a conventional top terminal battery disconnect. I used this in conjunction with a top terminal and mounted this sideways. It worked out. A little flaky but gets the job done. I might change this to a different switch down the road.Seems like quality, time will tell. That’s why I purchased a set, incase one goes bad or I loose the knob.

The bolt supplied little short so I had to file down rises area around bolt opening to allow treads to reach. Other than that the switch works as designed and allows me to disconnect battery for longer term storage without worrying about battery drain

These installed as required. The included bolt wasn't long enough. I needed a longer bolt by only about 1/4 inch. I cut a longer bolt that I already had. Other than that it works. Haven't had a long time so I can't answer durability or corrosion but it should be fine from the looks of it.
