Prevents a flame from traveling past the flashback arrestor in the event of a flashback.
Without these safety devices, it is possible a flash can occur within the hose, and ultimately follow back into the tanks, causing an explosion.
This would be an extremely rare occurrence, but flashback arrestors will make it a "never" occurrence. Check valves are only a first line of defense and may not ultimately stop a flashback. Only the flashback arrestors will.

Made for welding gases they are not intended for gasoline as another reviewer claimed they did then gave a poor review because improper use did not work...Wish there was an easy safe way to test versus more expensive brands. So they are like surge protectors in that you see no problems if they work but if they fail or do not use them you might have a problem.

I will be returning these. They are not a pair for a torch, but two fuel side arrestors. If you need multiple fuel side arrestors, they should be okay.

I tried to attach it to a fire extinguisher so that I could use it to exert gasoline but gasoline would not run through these valves so I had to dangerously shoot off my homemade flamethrower I guess the company doesn’t care about our hands or feet which got burned thanks a lot
