We used this to replace the sand in our pool pump. These are much lighter than normal sand filter media so they are easy to work with. They are also very easy to clean. They seem to be quality material and should last for years.

What I’ve learned about this product:Give these a rinse or a full wash before using in your filter. These filter balls can cause a bit of sudsy bubble-like froth that dissipates eventually. But if you wash them before, it doesn’t happen. I’ve learned this, so I don’t even skip that step when I order new filter balls. These are actually great to take a few and drop right into the skimmer, as well. It helps absorbs the oils from tanning that float around the pool.Also, don’t use pool clarifiers when you have pool filter balls instead of sand in your filter. Something about the clarifiers congealing and clog the pool filter balls.These are a great quality and match what I have in the industry. They are reusable, which is the big seller for me. The sand is so expensive, heavy, not easy to work with. Since we’ve switched to the pool filter balls I have seen a noticeable difference in the management of our filter. I haven’t seen a change in clarity, meaning the water isn’t any clearer. Which I take as a good thing, in a sense, because it works like sand, you still need to balance your chemicals. The pool filter balls are just the most economical. I have noticed the water pulls through faster. And when we back wash it seems to go faster too.We had to change out our filter system because we upgraded to a bigger tank, and it was so much easier than dealing with sand. The balls did have a clay feeling to them, so a quick wash and they were back, good as new. But I could tell, they work! I’d definitely buy these again… and have.

These are slightly smaller than the other brand I had, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I just got them, so I can't speak to how long they'll last, but they look fine. I'm hoping for a summer of much cleaner water.

It's difficult to judge these pool filter balls thoroughly since it's still early in the season where I live, but I didn't want to wait to review them until we have enough warm weather to open our pool and can give them a better test. For now, I can say that the balls are smaller than the brand we tried (and liked) last year. They also seem less tightly made, or maybe I should say less dense. I'm not sure if that is an issue or not, but I hope it doesn't mean they will fall apart easily when in use. Not being much of an expert in filter balls (last year was our first time using them) I can't say much more about them at this point except that the price seems comparable with what we paid for the ones we used last year. If I have additional information after we've used them a while, I will add to this review at that time.

I've got another brand I'm trying as well that we're supposed to be the same size but these seem to be a bit smaller. I'm not sure what to look for, being these are my first filter balls but they kinda worry me about unraveling during normal use. We haven't been able to give them a try for any amount of time so we'll see.
