So I made the mistake of buying this fancy mailbox that was mounted on a round pole instead of being mounted on a post. So when it came time to install it I was kind of screwed because there was nothing really on the market to help you sink a round pole into the ground on a standard post. Until I found this. Okay, so it was pricey for burying underground, but the thing is sturdy as hell, and fit my round mailbox post almost perfectly (had to add a bit of gorilla tape to make it perfect, but no big deal) and then it attached perfectly to the square post I had to sink into the ground. Very happy with the product. Super solid and worked like a charm for what I needed.

Rusty interior and the opening is too small to fit on a 4x4 post or a 4x4 piece of lumber. The dimensions of the opening are 3.25" square. Argh...this created a lot of work for me.

A hole, a bag of Sakrete, a galvanized insert, and this high-quality, bronzed square to round tenon adapter is ready. It would also fit a 4"x4" post for mounting a light.I've not seen one as heavy duty. As pictured. Much better than expected. A sort of hardware delight. You could balance a small Buick on it ... outstanding.
