This 35mm Film Holder for Scanning is specially designed to hold 35mm negatives flat in place to support proper scanning with a standard flatbed scanner with a backlight/transparency unit. The scanning area is 9.0x1.1"/ 228.5x 27.9mm.
Note: One side of this film holder does not have a transparent mask.

It's affordable but the glass (plastic?) is definitely not anti newton ring (see my photo) and is very prone to static, so it attracts dust and hair that isn't easy to remove even with a large blower. You could do worse for the price, but it isn't great for flattening bowed negatives since newton rings will be a problem.

For some reason I have difficulty focusing on the image, could it be the glass backing?? Still this is much better than other neg holders without the cross supports.

This item is very well made. Unfortunately I have yet to get a useable scan using it,The description says that it SHOULD work with any flatbed scanner with backlight capability.I have that feature but I haven’t figured out the trick to getting a useable scan yet. But I an hopefully the I will figure it out.If I can get it to work I am going to buy the 120 film version.

This is so close to being a great product but it misses on a crucial misstep in design. The magnetic opening is a great feature. The channel where the film lies keeps the film secure and in place. The build is sturdy and durable. And the price is reasonable. A big "however" makes this product unusable. The "transparent mask," which is just a thin plastic window, is a dust magnet. Dust is your worst enemy when you're scanning tiny 35mm negatives. I've cleaned the screen with alcohol wipes, lint free pads, air blower... it's near impossible to remove the dust. It just sticks to the plastic. Having nothing there would be ideal. Also, while their product images show that putting film directly on a flatbed scanner causes moire and distortions, the plastic transparent mask does the same thing. It's pressing onto the the film. I broke off the clear plastic and now it works perfectly with no dust or moire!
