Once installed, the nut secures the turnbuckle so it won't come loose later. Well designed, heavy duty, durable. Highly recommend.

These are industrial-grade turnbuckles. I guess they could be used to tie down a giant broadcast antenna or other industrial structures. They are LARGE, so if you don't know that you need them LARGE, you probably should do some research and make sure these are what you want. I ordered them to tie down the guy cables on my 33 foot fiberglass antenna mast with a base of 2" diameter, and did not use these turnbuckles because they would be OVERKILL. These turnbuckles could easily be used to provide tension for a human-supporting zip line cable or other heavy duty, high tension applications. Should last a lifetime, and then some! Recommended if you know that this is what you want!

These turnbuckles are LARGE and well suited for heavy duty jobs: they adjust from 12" to 18" length, and their attachments can accept a 1/2" diameter steel cable (bigger than most home users will need). The package includes two complete turnbuckles. The turnbuckle bodies and 3/8" diameter threaded attachments are cast / machined from steel (the vendor's load rating is 1200 pounds tension) and then hot-dipped zinc galvanized for corrosion resistance. The turnbuckles are well-engineered: 1/4" diameter removable bolts with nuts form the end connectors, and each threaded attachment includes a post-adjustment jam nut. I smiled at the L & R cast labels on the turnbuckle body: one threaded attachment is left-hand threaded, the other attachment is right-hand threaded. I'm confident that these heavy duty turnbuckles will handle any load I'd need to rig.

When I took these out of the bag I thought there was a mistake in the order. I selected 6" and what I had in my hand was nearly a foot long. Well turns out that turnbuckles are measured not from end to end but the area where the threads are. Makes perfect sense now. So a 6" TB will close upto 6". I has nothing to do with its overall length. Now the product itself:Visually it is honestly represented as the set I received look just like the sellers provided photo. They aint the prettiest things but they will absolutely get the gob done. I will be using these to square a weak gate on my property.

I put these up to tension a cable running from my house to the detached garage to hang lights. The galvanizing is pretty heavy on these and makes the thread tight. Use antiseize on the thread or they will cut/rust. Great heavy-duty pieces otherwise!

I like that they have lock nuts to lock the tension. They’re a nice size and heft. Good to have around. They might end up on my carriage house style doors to help keep them from sagging.

PRODUCT REVIEWED: AYMMIC 3/8 Inch X 6" Turnbuckle Hook, Jaw ASIN: B0C4HCSZSSREVIEWER EXPERIENCE: Test Engineer, Technical Writer, FCC Licensed Amateur Radio Operator (Extra)INTENDED USE: Originally intended to anchor /tie several auxiliary Phillystran guy lines supporting a 60ft 2000 lbs Antenna Tower. After examining the turnbuckles, I will use them for another less-risky use.GENERAL IMPRESSION/UNBOXING: Plastic wrap containing two Hook/Jaw Turnbuckles. Each Turnbuckle measured 11” fully retracted to 16.75” fully extended (See Photos 1 & 2) *Measured between retaining pins. The pin Diameter is measured as 5MM. The ends of the Turnbuckle collars say (L and R) on opposite ends. One end has the marking “3/8” to indicate the diameter of the threaded rod. CONDITION ISSUE: One end of the turnbuckles has remnants of an old marking that has been obscured by a recent galvanization process, could these be used turnbuckles?SAFETY ISSUE: Most branded turnbuckles and other types of industrial hardware carry a rating from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an international member Organization with a presence in 150 countries. ASME Regulation B30.26 covers “Rigging Hardware, turnbuckles, eyebolts, and eye nut”, to be compliant the devices must be “durably marked by the manufacturer to show:Name or trademark of manufacturer 2. Size or rated load 3. The grade for alloy eyebolts According to the ASME, the definition of “Rated load” is “the maximum allowable working load established by the rigging hardware manufacturer.SUMMARY: The Dilemma I have, both using and reviewing the turnbuckles is that the ASME standard is voluntary. The seller of this item has no regulatory requirement to comply, but on the other hand, I cannot trust these turnbuckles under heavy load, and this impacts my rating. I did research materials on the AYMMIC “store” page, but I could not find any independent test reports or ASME documentation.PRO: Two Turnbuckles were delivered. Measured Parameters verified those claimed in the listing, Galvanization appears complete with no Zinc coat flaking or bare spots noted.CONS: Not Compliant with ASME B30.26, no independent test reports are available on the vendor's storefront.RATINGS 3/5: The product did not meet my standards. I did keep 3 stars as the ASME standard is voluntary and I may use the product for some lightweight applications.PHOTOS: (1) Photo of Unit – Retracted (1) Photo of unit extended)

Got these turnbuckles to hold my sliding barn door closed and locked. These worked out great once I put a hook on my post and door. These turnbuckles are very well made. Turn vocals have Galvin has coating which they will not rust. And they can be used for lots of other things like tightening cable fences. Made from good strong material and easy to use. I am very happy with these Tom radicals and they will come in very useful.
