  • Width Measured From Flat to Flat 9/16"
  • Height 21/64"
  • Hex Socket Drive 9/16"
  • Grade 360 Brass, known for its strength and resistance to corrosion with properties closely resembling that of steel, is one of the most popular copper alloys used today. produced from a combination of copper and zinc, has the highest machinability of all copper alloys, and is the standard against which all the others are compared to.

A nut is a type of fastener with a threaded hole. Nuts are almost always used in conjunction with a mating bolt to fasten two or more parts together. The two partners are kept together by a combination of their threads' friction, a slight stretching of the bolt, and compression of the parts to be held together. In normal use, a nut-and-bolt joint holds together because the bolt is under a constant tensile stress called the preload. The preload pulls the nut threads against the bolt threads, and the nut face against the bearing surface, with a constant force, so that the nut cannot rotate without overcoming the friction between these surfaces. If the joint is subjected to vibration, however, the preload increases and decreases with each cycle of movement. If the minimum preload during the vibration cycle is not enough to hold the nut firmly in contact with the bolt and the bearing surface, then the nut is likely to become loose.

I used this to repair a 100% brass bed. The brass alloy is not all that hard. The listing says they are 360 brass which is no surprise since they are machined nuts. 360 has a very slightly elevated lead percentage making them more easily machined. Thus they are fairly ductile. For my application where a number of studs were rusted, a harder alloy might have twisted the studs off. These nuts could adapt to thread irregularities in the rusted studs. For me these were perfect.

They arrived on time and in good condition. Machined nicely with a good finish which is important in my application as they will be visible to all.

These are brass, that means they less prone to corrosion than steel. I bought them to use with auto battery connections. They appear to be accurately made and of good quality. For brass, the price seems reasonable.

These weren't as polished as the photo made them appear, which, I was looking for high polish, but they're still good for decorative use with paracord jewelry I made with it. If I have more time next time I decide to make brass nut jewelry, I might polish them up a bit, but they're fine,
