How to Select Your Nozzle Size

The best thing, is that these nozzles can be used for your regular brass nozzle prints as well.

Ultimately, the choice between nozzles depends on the specific requirements of your printing project, balancing factors such as detail, speed, strength, and material considerations. Below are helpful guidelines for size and type of nozzle. We at Gizmo's Dizmos wish you a successful time printing.

MK8 HS 0.4 NOZZLE

What Level of Detail do You Need?

A smaller nozzle size, such as 0.4mm, allows for finer details in the printed object. This is because the smaller diameter of the nozzle can create thinner lines and intricate features, resulting in higher resolution prints. If you're printing small objects or models that require fine details, a 0.4mm nozzle would be preferable.

MK8 HS 0.6

Speed of Printing

A larger nozzle size, like 0.6mm, can extrude more filament per pass, leading to faster printing speeds. While sacrificing some detail, larger nozzles are suitable for printing larger objects or prototypes where speed is prioritized over fine resolution.

MK8 HS 0.8 NOZZLE

Strength and Durability

Larger nozzles can also produce stronger prints due to the thicker layers they deposit. This can be advantageous for functional prints or prototypes that require more structural integrity.

MK8 HS 1.0 NOZZLE

Material Flow and Clogging

Nozzle size also affects material flow and susceptibility to clogging. Smaller nozzles may be more prone to clogging, especially when using materials with additives or particles. Larger nozzles can handle these materials better but may struggle with intricate designs or small parts.

Gizmo's Dizmos Package

Best use of hardened steel nozzles vs. brass nozzles

Brass nozzles are suitable for general-purpose printing with standard filaments, while our hardened steel MK8 nozzles are preferred for printing with abrasive filaments due to their superior resistance to wear and abrasion.

The choice is yours. Selection between the two depends on the specific materials you intend to print with and your printing requirements.

Why Do I Want a Hardened Steel Nozzle?

MK8 hardened steel nozzles are often used for 3D printing items that require durability and wear resistance. Here are some common examples of items that can be printed using MK8 hardened steel nozzles:

  1. Functional Prototypes: Parts that need to withstand mechanical stress, such as gears, brackets, and hinges.
  2. Tools and Fixtures: Custom tools, jigs, and fixtures used in DIY projects.
  3. Industrial Components: Machine parts, components, and other industrial-grade components.
  4. Engine Parts: Small engine components like impellers, housings, and exhaust fittings.
  5. Outdoor and Sporting Equipment: Items like drone frames, bicycle parts, and outdoor

Had a mostly stock ender 3 PRO, and wanted to print some carbon fiber and nylon. Early model ender 3s are not equipped with the internals to do this, ranging from hotend, to bowden tube, to even the nozzles themselves. Ended up snagging these up and after countless hours of calibrations, am pleased to say the work. I'd like to say that standard PLA prints are improved as well, but maybe thats just wishful thinking.

I've always used brass and wanted to try out an upgrade. Even though I only print with PLA, the increased quality in production of this nozel in comparison to the cheaper brass, really shines though... Hahahs

Simply put - these are cheap nozzles. They don’t actually cut down the edges to allow for socket heads to install which you need for torquing.

I normally buy whatever nozzle is cheapest - these were a little bit more but with the performance I've gotten from the 0.6mm, they will end up far cheaper than the bargain nozzles.Going to order a bunch in 0.4mm for my second printer and to have on the shelf

Ordered these for printing abrasive filaments - glow in the dark PLA, carbon fiber PLA, and wood filled PLA - and to try out some larger nozzles for quicker printing. These are decent quality nozzles for the price, and I have had no issues with them. They should work in any printer with a MK8 hotend, and even some other hotends with the same threads. Just make sure the nozzle seats tight against the heat break and they'll work fine.
