Harder steel means the bit will snap instead of smearing or twisting, keeping the bolt better intact when your buddy is ripping on the cheater pipe. The downside is shrapnel lol. Got tired of the Hazardous Fright bits twisting and smearing out of the bolt, mangling the fastener. The harder steel is the way to go, one of the few things you should spend a little bit more on.
