It fits tightly on 4 inch pvc drain. Works great if you have a sloped lawn at the end of the drain pipe.

Need to put in a 4" french drain and output onto a sloped section of lawn. I wanted something that I could mow over without cutting the pipe each time I got near it (or having to weedwack the area because I couldn't mow it). This looked like a great option and ordered it.This is a very sturdy pipe and grate that looks like it will stand up. It has a heavy grate with thick edging to better protect it. The bottom of the grate also has a dip to help drain as much water as possible. The PVC wall seems thick (Schedule 40), but I'm not exactly clear what I need to connect it to 4" corrugated drainage pipe. I wish they would provide some better explanation to assist in connecting it up. That may be obvious to a professional landscaper, but it was not obvious to me. No instructions are provided in the box. I'm not sure I agree it would work for drain spouts to avoid icing, but it will work well for its primary task.It is a simple product, but well made and should stand up to years of abuse. This is something a professional landscaper would buy for the job.

This is a really strong drainage grate. Perfect for my French drainage pipe. Now I don't have to worry about dirt and rocks and debris getting in my drainage pipe. Really impressed.
