I’ve had my VitaMix FoodCycler for several years and I’m quite happy with it. The one drawback has always been the filters—I hated having to throw away those two heavy plastic filters every couple of months. And they were so expensive! Eventually I just stopped using them, and put up with the stink every couple of days when I ran my machine. I decided to purchase some filters when I had a friend staying with me for a few weeks (the smell was kind of embarrassing). Searching for the replacement on Amazon, I stumbled across these activated charcoal refills. People in the reviews said that it was easy to pry the top off the old plastic filters and replace the charcoal, and I decided it was worth a shot. It was a piece of cake! I received four bags of refill charcoal. One bag is enough for one filter cartridge, so the whole shipment is good for two rounds of filter replacements. I’ve used my machine 5 times, and the filters are operating the way they should—no more stinky odor! Very happy I no longer have to throw plastic into the landfill—and it’s a huge cost-savings, to boot. Win win!

This works great!! This composter is perfect for my husband and I. It takes about the same amount of space as a large air fryer. It is quiet. We have a kitchen/great room and it doesn't interfere with the television at all. It doesn't smell, thanks to the filters. I no longer feel guilty throwing away produce left overs and egg shells. I put the dried compost in our outside garden and in my house plants. Even someone who does small scale gardening on their porch would love this.

Emptied these charcoal pellets into my Foodcycler, each packet exactly fits each filter. After running it it doesn't seem to quite absorb smell as well as the original filter. It's definitely tolerable since I only run it downstairs in the kitchen at night, but I can definitely detect a hint of that particular odor that comes when the filter needs changing. For the price difference between a branded filter replacement vs this it's acceptable.Also second con.... this package was supposed to be a 4 pack of filter refills, and I only received 3.

So far, so good. I have been able to save quite a bit of money by refilling my Vitamix composter filters. I have not noticed any smells coming from my compoter yet. Highly recommend this to refill composter filters and save money in the process.
